Contrast Sensor BKT 67M-005/006-U-S92
Setting reading mode (Teach in). Continuation
Possibility 2
You want the digital output to come ON when the back-
ground is acquired.
First teach-in the background and then the marking. See
Possibility 1 for this procedure.
Dynamic setting
For objects in motion the sensor acquires the contrast
between the marking and background and automatically
sets the switching threshold.
1. Set the light-on or dark-on switching (see correspon-
ding section).
2. Aim the light beam at the moving object.
3. Hold down the SET key for longer than 4 s. As soon as
"dYn" flashes on the display, the object begins to be
acquired.
4. After the process has run at least once, release the key.
The sensor goes into operating mode.
If the setting failed, the display flashes "Lo".
5. To repeat the acquisition, press the SET key again. The
read process always starts over from the beginning as
long as the key remains depressed. The display flashes
"dYn".
6. To reactivate the previous setting, press the + or – key
once.
Setting the switching threshold manually
The switching threshold can be adjusted to the application.
1. Press the + key for 2 s:
"Adj" appears on the display.
2. Release the + key:
The current threshold value is displayed.
3. To increase or reduce the threshold value, press the +
or – keys multiple times. The respective value is displa-
yed.
4. To store the current threshold value, press the SET key
for 1 s.

Setting Remote control (REMOTE SET)
With remote control enabled, the SET key is disabled. The
SET function is triggered by a signal applied to Pin 5 (Fig. 4).
SET functions using the Remote cable:
"Press SET key" function:
Connect cable to 10...30 V DC.
"Do not press SET key" function:
Connect cable to 0 V DC or leave unconnected.

Procedure
1. Press the – key:
"HYSt" appears on the display.
2. Release the – key:
The current hysteresis level is displayed.
3. To increase or decrease the hysteresis level, press the
+ or – key. The respective level is displayed.

Procedure
1. Open the "MEnu" menu (see key functions).
2. Select "rSEt" (Reset).
3. Hold down the SET key for 1 s. The sensor switches
over to run mode.
Setting output activation delay
Activation delay causes the output to be turned on only
some time after the reference marking appeares in the
acquisition range. This prevents the sensor from capturing
pulses which may appear only sporadically and for short
duration. Example: A marking with shaded colors (light-
dark-light) could be acquired twice.

Procedure
1. Open the "MEnu" menu (see key functions).
2. Select menu item "dlOn".
3. Press the SET key to activate programming.
The previously set value is displayed, e.g. "d _ _ 0".
4. Use the + and – keys to increase or decrease the
value. Value range: 0...100 ms in steps of 1 ms. The
DELAY-LED comes on as soon as a value not equal to
zero is set.
5. Save the value by pressing the SET key
