Please read through these operating instructions carefully prior to operating the espresso maker for the first time
and pay particular attention, in your own interest, to the safety information in order to avoid accidents and
malfunctions. Safety can be impaired by incorrect use or inadequate cleaning and care. This can result in serious

Safety instructions
· Should this device be passed on to other people, make sure that these operating instructions are handed to
them along with it.
· No liability can be accepted for any damage or losses that may arise in the event of improper use or incorrect
handling. This device is intended for domestic use only. Do not use the device outside.
· Please check whether the type of current and the mains voltage comply with the information on the rating label.
· Do not touch the espresso maker or the mains plug with wet or damp hands.
· Do not use any multiple socket that is already being used to run other appliances.
· Use the espresso maker under supervision and for the intended purpose only.
· This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and they understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user
maintenance are to be carried out by adults only.
· Never allow children to play with the appliance.
· Do not at all operate this unit with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.
· Only place the espresso maker on non-flammable, flat and stable surfaces and not near hot plates, gas flames
or other sources of heat and out of the reach of children. Ensure sufficient free space above and near the
espresso maker to avoid overheating. Use the espresso maker only with the accompanying base plate. Protect
sensitive surfaces from splashes that may occur.
· Take care that when using the device the base plate as well as the bottom of the jug are completely dry.
· Before using the espresso maker, make sure that it has been assembled properly and is firmly closed.
· Only operate the appliance with water and never without water or with any other liquids.
· Fill the espresso maker up to just below the safety valve only. The valve must not be covered with water as it
may calcify. This can impair the valve function and thus impact the safety.
· Attention: The espresso maker becomes very hot when in use. In the event of contact with hot surfaces there
is a risk of burns. Please take hold of the espresso maker by the handle and the lid knob only and
use an oven cloth or glove if necessary. Do not carry or move the appliance while in operation.
· Hot steam may be released from the safety valve. Always make sure that the valve is not pointing towards the user.
· Do not open the lid before the boiling process has come to an end. Do not unscrew the espresso maker before it
has cooled down.
· Remove the mains plug every time after use, and also:
· In event of malfunction whilst in operation,
· Every time that it is being cleaned.
Please do not pull on the connecting cable, but only on the plug itself.
