Tips and tricks
· We recommend that you stir the espresso briefly with a spoon before pouring.
· For best results serve your espresso in preheated cups.
· Use only pure, not too finely ground espresso powder. Coffee substitutes or coffee extract contain sticky
substances which clog the espresso maker. Coffee powder that is ground too finely can also clog the sieve of
the espresso maker.
Cleaning and care
Attention: Never immerse the base plate and the espresso maker in water or other liquids and do not clean
these parts in the dishwasher, as this can cause a short circuit.
Cleaning after each use
· Let your espresso maker cool down and remove the plug from the socket before cleaning it.
· Clean the funnel insert and the sealing ring with clear water. We recommend a cleaning by hand.
· Rinse the jug and the lower part with clear water only and wipe the outside with a soft, slightly moistened cloth.
· Wipe the base plate with a soft, slightly moistened cloth only. Make sure that the base plate is completely dry
before using the espresso maker again.
· Do not use any sharp objects or spirit, solvent, scrubbing brushes or abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning.
· Allow the appliance to dry completely. We recommend storing the single parts unscrewed.
Decalcifying
From time to time, it may be necessary to decalcify your espresso maker. The intervals are determined by the
lime content of your water. In the event of a small amount of lime having deposited in the espresso maker, we
recommend using citric acid or vinegar for a gentle decalcification.
· Fill the lower part up to the rim with a solution of citric acid or vinegar (in case of an intense lime deposit a
decalcification agent should be used).
· Put the funnel insert in the lower part so that it will also be decalcified.
· Remove the sieve from the upper part and place it in a separate receptacle along with the solution being
used.
· Allow the espresso maker to stand until the lime has completely dissolved.
· Pour off a part of the solution until the security valve lies above the liquid. Assemble the espresso maker and
bring the solution to a boil one or two times.
· It is important that the security valve in particular is in contact with the solution during several minutes. The
security valve must always be free from lime, otherwise it will not work properly.
· Afterwards clean the espresso maker thoroughly as described above.
