1 Introduction
This quick guide will assist you in starting up the unit. Follow
the safety notices or injury to health or property damage may
occur. Carefully read the original operating instructions in-
cluding information on maintenance and troubleshooting
prior to startup. These are located on the included CD and on-

These operating instructions are a part of the equipment. The
manufacturer reserves the right to change performance-, spe-

1.1 Intended use
This unit is intended for industrial use in gas analysis systems.
It's an essential component for conditioning the sample gas to
protect the analysis instrument from residual moisture in the
sample gas.
Sample gas coolers with the option for high-purity oxygen
(suffix -O2) are optimised especially for use with increased
oxygen concentrations with regard to the parts in contact
with the medium. Special cleaning of the components to min-
imise organic and inorganic contamination is mandatory.
Manufacturing the products under controlled cleanliness con-
ditions ensures compliance with the limit values in accord-
ance with EIGA Doc 33/18.
Sample gas coolers with the option for high-purity hydrogen
(suffix -H2) are specially refined using advanced manufactur-
ing measures, in particular to prevent hydrogen-induced com-
ponent damage. In addition, the parts in contact with the me-
dia are subjected to an additional visual inspection to remove
any residual metallic contamination, such as chips and
particles. Finally, a leak test is carried out as standard.
The device must not be operated in a zone 2, explosion
class IIC (ATEX, IECEx and EAC Ex) explosive gas atmosphere
which is rarely and only temporarily explosive, and in class I,
division 2 (US & Canada).
For passing of flammable gases, make sure that the parts car-
rying and/or in contact with the medium are tightly connec-
ted.
Optional installation of various add-on equipment may limit
the area of application of this device.
Coolers with Canada certificate and IECEx
The device must be installed in a tool-secured IP54 housing.
Coolers with USA certificate
The device must be installed in a tool-secured IP54 housing
suitable for one or more class I division 2 wiring methods ac-
cording to National Electric Code (ANSI/NFPA 70).

Coolers with ATEX certificate
The device must be installed within a tool-secured enclosure
providing a minimum degree of protection of IP54 and meet-
ing the requirements of EN 60079-0 or certified as Ex e and in
compliance with the enclosure, mounting, spacing and se-
gregation requirements of the ultimate application.
Coolers with EAC Ex certificate
The device must be installed in an IP54 rated housing which
meets the requirements of GOST 14254-2015.
Please note the specifications in the data sheet on the specific
intended use, existing material combinations, as well as pres-
sure and temperature limits.

The device is suitable for hazardous areas.
This unit may only be used if:
• The product is being used under the conditions described
in the operating- and installation instructions, used ac-
cording to the nameplate and for applications for which it
is intended. Any unauthorized modifications to the unit
will void the warranty provided by Bühler Technologies
GmbH,
• The specifications and markings in the type plate must be
observed,
• The threshold values in the data sheet and the instruc-
tions must be observed,
• Monitoring equipment / protection devices must be con-
nected correctly,
• Service and repair work not described in these instruc-
tions are performed by Bühler Technologies GmbH,
• Genuine replacement parts must be used.
Erecting electrical systems in explosive areas requires compli-
ance with the following national regulations:
• IEC/EN 60079-14
• National electric code (NEC)
• Canadian electric code (CEC)
Additional national regulations pertaining to initial opera-
tion, operation, maintenance, repairs and disposal must be
observed.
