Installation of the Flow 8
Safety note: Disconnect the mains plug from the socket before carrying out any work on
the BSS-Flow 8 Case!
Do not touch the installed electronic
components when the installation slot is
open. Even if the mains plug is discon-
nected, these can still be live for a long time
and cause an electric shock.
Installing the Flow 8 requires technical
understanding and some manual skill.
Please contact our service department if
you require assistance with installation.
Tool required: Phillips screwdriver, size
PH 0 or 1
Note: first watch our installation video in the support section of our website before installation.
Connecting the cables
First remove all transport locks and protective covers from the installation recess. Using the
screwdriver, size PH 0 or 1, remove the two C-clamps (4x M3x16, 4x M3x25) that are
mounted on the right and left of the recess.
First plug the power supply (USB-Micro) and the USB data cable (USB-B) into the Flow 8
(Fig. 2) These are labeled. Hold the Flow 8 with one hand and plug in the cables.
Note: Never pull on the cables with force as this could damage them
Inserting the Flow 8
The Flow 8 is inserted by swinging the
rear into the recess (Fig. 3).
There are four rectangular recesses on
the base plate for the rubber feet of the
Flow 8. Make sure that the device is in-
serted correctly. If necessary, you can
move the Flow 8 slightly within the re-
cess after inserting it. The Flow 8 sits cor-
rectly when its control surface (the vol-
ume faders) is level and parallel to the
cover plate.

Operating instruction EN
Note: Work carefully and never force the Flow 8 into the recess! If the device does not sit cor-
rectly in the recess, carefully remove the Flow 8 (see note "Removing the Flow 8" on page 35)
and check that the rubber feet on the underside are in the correct position (inside the metal
beading). If they have shifted, you must
put them back in their positions (they
are attached with double-sided adhe-
sive tape). Then reinsert the Flow 8 into
the recess.
Place the two C-clamps on the Flow
8. The C-clamps ensure that the
Flow 8 is secured in the recess with-
out play. Screw them in with a
Phillips screwdriver, size PH 0 or 1.
The M3x25 mm screws (4x) are in-
serted on the raised side, the M3x16
mm screws (4x) on the flat side of
the C clamps, max. tightening
torque 0.2 Nm (! only tighten
lightly) (Fig. 4)
First tighten all tensioner screws only lightly until they have found their seat. Then
tighten them alternately and evenly. If a screw is already stiff in the thread when you
tighten it, remove it and tighten it again. To get a good grip on the start of the thread, it
helps to turn the screw slightly
counterclockwise after tightening.
Please also refer to our video instal-
lation instructions on our support
website.
Note: Do not mix up the positions of the
two screw lengths. The longer screws
can protrude too deeply into the case in
the wrong position and possibly cause
damage.
Removing the Flow 8
First remove any smartphone or
tablet inserted in the lid holder.
Place the case on a soft surface. Re-
move the two C-clamps by loosening all screws with a Phillips screwdriver, size PH 0 or
1. Hold the Flow 8 with one hand. Tilt the open case forward on the soft surface until the
Flow 8 tilts out of its recess. (Fig. 5) Grasp the Flow 8 by the sheet metal housing. Return
the case to its working position. Carefully remove the Flow 8 by tilting it upwards and
removing it backwards at the same time. Unplug the USB power cable and the USB data
cable.
