The SIMMs used must meet the following minimum specifica-
tions, but this does not guarantee that they will work properly
with the PSR-8000. Consult with your nearest Yamaha repre-
sentative or an authorized distributor listed at the end of this
manual before purchasing SIMMs for the PSR-8000.
• 16-bit bus compatibility or compliance with JEDEC standards (SIMMs
which are only compatible with 32-bit buses can not be used)
• 70 nanoseconds or faster access time (note: 60 nanosecond SIMMs are
"faster" than 70 nanosecond SIMMs).
• No more than 18 memory chips on each SIMM module.
• SIMM modules must be no more than 40 mm in height and the thickness of
the SIMM should not exceed 8mm on either side when measured from the
center of the SIMM. See below.
• SIMMs with parity and EDO DRAM modules can also be used.
• Use only 4, 8, or 16 megabyte memory modules in pairs of the same type
and memory capacity from the same manufacturer: e.g. 4, 8, or 16 mega-
bytes x 2.
• Install SIMM memory at your own risk. Yamaha will not be held responsible
for any damage or injury resulting from improper installation.

arbeiten. Lassen Sie sich von Ihrem Yamaha-Fahhändler oder
einer der am Ende dieser Anleitung aufgelisteten Vertretungen
beraten, bevor Sie SIMM-Module für das PSR-8000 erwerben.
• Mit 16-Bit-Bus-Kompatibilität bzw. -Konformität zu JEDEC-Normen (SIMM-
Module, die nur mit 32-Bit-Bussen kompatibel sind, können nicht verwendet
werden).
• Zugriffszeit 70 Nanosekunden oder schneller (Hinweis: SIMMs mit 60 ns
sind schneller als SIMMs mit 70 ns).
• Nicht mehr als 18 Speicherchips pro SIMM-Modul.
• SIMM-Module mit maximal 40 mm Höhe und einer Dicke, die, gemessen ab
SIMM-Mitte, in beiden Richtungen 8 mm nicht überschreiten darf. Siehe
untere Abbildung.
• SIMMs mit Parität und EDO DRAM-Module können ebenfalls verwendet
werden.
• Verwenden Sie identische Speichermodule (gleiche Kapazität und gleicher
Hersteller) als Paar: d. h. 4, 8 oder 16 Megabyte x 2.
• Die Installation von SIMM-Modulen erfolgt auf eigenes Risiko. Yamaha
haftet nicht für Schäden oder Verletzungen, die durch unsachgemäße
Installation entstehen.

paires de même type et avec la même capacité en mémoire et provenant
du même fabriquant: c-à-d., 4, 8 ou 16 mégaoctets x 2.
• La responsabilité de l'installation d'une mémoire SIMM vous incombe
entièrement. Yamaha ne peut être tenu pour responsable des dommages
ou des accidents survenant d'une installation inappropriée de ce type de
matériel.

Optional SIMM Installation

Before installing the SIMMs be sure to save any important
data to disk by using the SAVE TO DISK function described
on page 141. Also remove the backup batteries.
Turn the PSR-8000 power OFF and unplug the power cord
from both the AC wall socket and the instrument's rear panel.
Turn the instrument upside down and rest it on a blanket or
other soft surface.

Remove the six screws from the SIMM cover in the center of
the instrument's bottom panel, and remove the cover.

Insert the SIMMs in the SIMM slots as described below.

-1 Make sure the orientation is correct.
Do not remove the circuit board in front of the SIMM slot
(the system memory is on this board).
WARNING
Install the SIMM modules carefully as per the procedure
outlined below (steps 3-1 through 3-3). Improper installa-
tion can cause shorts which may result in irreparable
damage and pose a fire hazard.
Carefully remove dust and dirt.
Make sure that there is no dust or dirt on or around the
SIMM edge terminals or the connector slots before instal-
lation.
Make sure that the cutout on the SIMM module is aligned
with the protruding "key" on the connector slot.
