tioned device, certified to standard EN 12841:06 type B, desi-
gned for progression in ascent on a textile working rope
conforming to standard EN 1891:98 (semi-static ropes) with a
ø of between 12 and 12.7 mm, which must be compulsorily
used with a fall-arrester device conforming to standard EN
12841:06 type A or EN 353-2:02 inserted onto the safety rope
(e.g. such as the BACK-UP).
These devices work perfectly well with dry clean textile ropes.
Warning: The locking action can be considerably reduced with
dirty, oily, muddy or icy ropes, until it fails to work altogether
and the device slides along the rope. This chiefly occurs with
ropes with a small diameter: for this reason we advise using a
rope with a diameter of at least 10 mm. The special drilled
tooth, helping to expel mud, mitigates but does not resolve
said problem. Warning: it is essential not to use the rope clam-
ps with wire ropes.

used for progression with textile ropes,
Fig.2
"MODULAR" rope clamp without right and left handgrips,
mainly used for self-protection with textile ropes,
Fig.3
"PROCAVE": right and left rope clamp, with dual handgrip
specially designed for using with both hands (speleological
type progression),
Fig. 4 - "CAM-CLEAN": ventral rope clamp, mounted between
the bottom harness and the chest piece, particularly used in
speleology coupled with the "PROCAVE, HAND FUTURA or
LIFT" rope clamps.
Fig.5
"HAND FUTURA": innovative, right and left rope clamps, with
handgrip in front of the ropes, particularly small in size for
working with wire ropes and for speleological activities. In the
latter case we advise using "FOOT FUTURA" as an extra foot
rope clamp.
16.1 - Positioning
Fig. 6 – How to fit the rope clamps onto the rope:
a) turn and lock the tooth into the open position taking the
safety device to the outside of the rope clamp,
b) insert the rope clamp onto the rope checking that it lies in
the direction marked on the equipment,
c) release the tooth, pressing it towards the rope,
d) make sure the safety device is positioned on the inside of
the rope clamp and prevents the tooth from fully opening.
In conditions of absolute safety, make sure the rope clamp sli-
des in the right direction (upwards) and locks in the other
direction (downwards) before using it.
16.2 – Progression
Example of correct progression: the loaded rope clamp must
-
go parallel with the rope (fig. 7A). If this does not happen,
insert a connector into the upper opening (fig. 7B) or else
insert the rope into the connector connecting the rope clamp
-
to the harness (fig. 7C).
Fig. 8 – Examples of incorrect and dangerous progression: the
rope clamp can slip down towards the bottom.
Fig. 9 – Example of correct horizontal progression (traverses).
Fig. 10 – Example of incorrect and dangerous horizontal pro-
gression.
