if it was formatted in the instrument. The button (Next) allows
to move around within the directory.

Storage of a signal [Store]
Before an arbitrary signal can be stored it must be defi ned which
signal and into which memory which is dependent upon the size
of the data. First the main menu 1 has to be called, then item
[ARB] will bring the arbitrary menu "WAVEFORM SIZE" forward.
Here it is to be defi ned whether 4 k or 16 k. For 4 k the name will
be ARB4k.xxx, for 16 k ARB16k.xxx. The data extension serves
to differentiate between signals on the card (.001, .002 etc.) In
the next step the menu MEMORY CARD 1 is called, then item
[Store] which stores the signal by the name selected.
Should there be already a signal with the same
name on the card it will be erased and replaced by
the new signal!

Memo Card Formatting
Prior to storing arbitrary signals an unused card
must be formatted.
Formatting is done in menu 2, item [Format]. The instrument
reads automatically the memory capacity of the card. With
STOP
some older cards it may be necessary to specify the capacity in
advance. The buttons [+ kB –] select the capacity which will be
entered by pressing [Ok]. In order to stop this procedure [No]
has to be depressed. The HM8131-2 is able to format cards
from 64k to 1 MB.
A formatted 1 MB card will accept up to 114 4k- or
up to 31 16k-signals.
