Required tools and materi-
als: A battery operated drill,
various metal drill bits, beveled
cutter (for 10 mm hole diameter)
or round file as alternative, current
meter, various screwdrivers, crimp
connections (alternatively there
can be used a soldering gun and
some tin-solder to solder on the
cable), possibly cable lugs, insula-
ting tape, shrinkdown plastic
tubing, power cable as extension
for starter cable (2.5 mm inside
cable Ø / 4 mm outside cable Ø),
owners manual for your vehicle
(wiring diagram of fuse box).
Note: If possible use the follo-
wing cable colors for wiring desi-
gnation:
- For terminal 50 and 30: red
- For ground: black
Caution: Make sure that
the ground cable of the
vehicle battery is discon-
nected prior to installation
to prevent electrical shock
and injury during installa-
tion.
We recommend that customers
who are not skilled with crafts
have the installation carried out by
an authorized automotive work-
shop.
Take your time in installing
the starter switch.
1) Find a suitable location for the
installation of the Start-Button
(instrument panel, center conso-
le).
2) Dismantle various moulding
parts of the steering column (star-
ter cable) as specified in the
Owners Manual of your vehicle.
3) Disconnect the plugs from the
ignition lock (thick cables)
Recommendation: Make a dra-
wing of the wiring diagram (cable
designation) of the ignition lock.
4) Sever the thick red cable of ter-
minal 30 (continuous power lead)
and establish a power connection
to the starter. For this purpose it is
necessary to use a power cable of
equal strength. Use crimp connec-
tions to insert a second power
cable and reconnect the severed
cable with cable connectors (see
wiring diagram). Make sure that
the cable connection is permanent-
ly protected from short circuits
(use shrinkdown plastic tubing).
Attention: The extension cable
must have the same cable cross
section (cable strength) – as the
severed cable - Danger of short cir-
cuit / cable fire!
5) Sever the cable with the termi-
nal designation 50 (starter) and
extent this cable (power lead to
starter) in length as needed to the
starter. Make sure that the remai-
ning cable connection (ignition
lock) is permanently protected
from short circuits (use shrink-
down plastic tubing). Attention:
The extension cable must have the
same cable cross section (cable
strength) – as the severed cable
Danger of short circuit / cable
fire!
Attention: The extension cable
must have the same cable cross
section (cable strength) – as the
severed cable Danger of short cir-
cuit / cable fire!
6) Drill a mounting hole with a
diameter of 10 mm on the desired
switch position (Attention: Take
the depth of switch installation
into consideration) using a battery
operated drill and beveled cutter.
7) Screw off the aluminium ring
located on the switch and check
the drilled hole diameter on the
now free shaft of the switch.
Rework the hole with a round file
if necessary.
