GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
GRINDERS
Check that speed m arked on the w heel is equal to
or greater than the rated speed of the grinder;
Ensure that the w heel dim ensions are com patible
w ith the grinder;
Abrasive w heels shall be stored and handled w ith
care in accordance w ith m anufacturer's instructions;
Inspect the grinding w heel before use, do not use
chipped, cracked or otherw ise defective products;
Ensure that m ounted w heels and points are fitted
in accordance w ith the m anufacturer's instructions;
Ensure that blotters are used w hen they are provided
w ith the bonded abrasive product and w hen they
are required;
Ensure that the abrasive product is correctly mounted
and tightened before use and run the tool at no-
load for 30 s in a safe position, stop im m ediately
if there is considerable vibration or if other defects
are detected. If this condition occurs, check the
m achine to determ ine the cause;

APPLICATIONS
Rem oval of casting fin and finishing of various types
of steel, bronze and alum inum m aterials and castings.
Grinding of w elded sections or sections cut by
m eans of a cutting torch.
Grinding of synthetic resins, slate, brick, m arble, etc.
PRIOR TO OPERATION
1. Pow er source
Ensure that the pow er source to be utilized conform s
to the pow er requirem ents specified on the product
nam eplate.
2. Pow er sw itch
Ensure that the pow er sw itch is in the OFF position.
If the plug is connected to a receptacle w hile the
pow er sw itch is in the ON position, the pow er tool
w ill start operating im m ediately, w hich could cause
a serious accident.

If a guard is equipped w ith the tool never use the
tool w ithout such a guard;
Do not use separate reducing bushings or adapters
to adapt large hole abrasive w heels;
For tools intended to be fitted w ith threaded hole
w heel, ensure that the thread in the w heel is long
enough to accept the spindle length;
Check that the w ork piece is properly supported;
Do not use cutting off w heel for side grinding;
Ensure that sparks resulting from use do not create
a hazard e.g. do not hit persons, or ignite flam m able
substances;
Ensure that ventilation openings are kept clear w hen
w orking in dusty conditions, if it should becom e
necessary to clear dust, first disconnect the tool
from the m ains supply (use non m etallic objects)
and avoid dam aging internal parts;
Alw ays use eye and ear protection. Other personal
protective equipm ent such as dust m ask, gloves,
helm et and apron should be w orn;
Pay attention to the w heel that continues to rotate
after the tool is sw itched off.

3. Extension cord
When the w ork area is rem oved from the pow er
source, use an extension cord of sufficient thickness
and rated capacity. The extension cord should be
kept as short as practicable.
4. Fitting and adjusting the w heel guard
The w heel guard is a protective device to prevent
injury should the depressed center w heel shatter
during operation. Ensure that the guard is properly
fitted and fastened before com m encing grinding
operation.
By slightly loosening the setting screw , the w heel
guard can be turned and set at any desired angle
for m axim um operational effectiveness. Ensure that
the setting screw is thoroughly tightened after
adjusting the w heel guard.
5. Ensure that m ounted w heels and points are fitted
in accordance w ith the m anufacturer's instructions.
Ensure that the depressed center w heel to be utilized
is the correct type and free of cracks or surface
defects. Also ensure that the depressed center w heel
is properly m ounted and the w heel nut is securely
tightened, Refer to the section on " ASSEM BLING
AND DISASSEM BLING THE DEPRESSED CENTER
WHEEL"
Ensure that blotters are used w hen they are provided
w ith the bonded abrasive product and w hen they
are required.
