INTENDED USE
The tool is designed for use with 5" diameter coated abrasive discs of various grades of grit which are designed to be used at the same or higher speed of the
tool. The tool can be used with other abrasive devices that are designed to run without a guard and have a rated speed equal to or higher than the speed of
the tool. Do not attempt to use any bonded abrasive devices, i.e. grinding wheels, as those which could be fitted because of their size, cannot be used without
a suitable guard. A guard is not available for this tool. Do not fit any form of saw blade. Do not fit any other abrasive or cutting device before checking the
suitability for use with this tool with the manufacturer or the manufacturer's authorized distributor.
AIR SUPPLY
The efficiency and life of this tool depend on the proper supply of clean, dry air at a maximum of 90 PSI. The use of an airline filter, pressure regulator, and
lubricator is recommended. Before connecting to tools, blow out the airline to remove water and dirt that may have accumulated.
HOSE AND HOSE CONNECTIONS
The air supply hose recommended is 3/8" (10mm) I.D. If an extension hose is necessary, use 1/2" (13mm) ID hose with couplings not less than 3/8" (10mm)
I.D. The tool inlet thread is 1/4" NPT.
LUBRICATION
All models may operate without airline lubrication. However, operating the tool without airline lubrication may reduce tool performance and vane life.
If an airline lubrication is not used, it is recommended that the tool be oiled daily before use to improve performance. Add 2-4 drops of air motor oil and run the
tool for 10-20 seconds to distribute oil through the tool.
For maximum performance and tool life, an air line lubricator, set to deliver 2 drops per minute, is recommended. SIOUX No. 288 Air Motor Oil is
recommended.
Do not over lubricate because excess oil may contaminate the surface being sanded.
For Angle Head
Lubricate the angle head assembly with 2 shots of SIOUX #1232 grease every 8 working hours.
MAINTENANCE
Water, dust and other airline contaminants can cause rust and vane sticking. For long periods between tool use, flush the tool with a few drops of oil and run
for 10 seconds. This will help remove contaminants and reduce the formation of rust.
OPERATION
Select a suitable abrasive disc and make sure that it is fixed securely to the tool. Connect to suitable air supply as recommended. The speed of the tool may
be adjusted by turning the regulator, which is located on the side of the handle near the air inlet. The trigger is the on/off valve for the tool. Apply the sander
lightly to the work and allow the abrasive disc to cut.
INSTALLING SANDING DISC
Place sanding disc against the correct side of backing disc. Orientate and stack backing discs as shown in the parts list. Never use only one disc. For use
with 5" sanding discs, always use the 3" disc pad and 4-1/2" disc pad together. Insert hub wrench through hole in hub and screw and tighten disc nut onto
spindle to secure sanding disc and backing pads.
