Ventilated enclosure - The safety of the unit depends on the ventilation of the enclosure. Switching off
the unit or opening the enclosure has a significant impact on safety.
Ventilated room - The safety of the unit depends on the ventilation of the room. Switching off the unit or
opening the enclosure has no significant impact on safety. The ventilation of the room must not be
switched off during repair work.
Information about refrigerant detectors:
Principle of operation, including influences on operation.
Procedures on how to repair, check or replace a refrigerant detector or parts thereof in a safe manner.
Procedures on how to put a refrigerant detector out of service in case of repair work on the refrigerant
carrying parts.
Information on the concept of sealed components and sealed enclosures according to IEC60079-
15:2010.
Information on the correct working procedures:
a. Commissioning
Make sure that the floor space is sufficient for the refrigerant charge or that the ventilation duct is
correctly mounted.
Connect the piping and perform a leak test before charging with refrigerant.
Check the safety equipment before commissioning. Maintenance
Portable appliances must be repaired outdoors or in a workshop specially equipped for servicing
appliances with flammable refrigerants.
Maintenance of appliances with flammable refrigerants is equipped.
Ensure adequate ventilation at the repair site.
Be aware that malfunction of the unit may be caused by refrigerant leakage and refrigerant leakage is
possible.
Discharge condensers in such a way that sparks do not occur. The standard procedure of short-
circuiting the capacitor terminals usually produces sparks.
Carefully reassemble sealed enclosures, replace worn seals.
Check safety devices before commissioning. Repair
Portable units must be repaired outdoors or in a workshop specially equipped to service units containing
flammable refrigerants.
Ensure sufficient ventilation at the repair site.
Be aware that malfunction of the unit may be caused by refrigerant leakage and that refrigerant
leakage is possible.
Discharge capacitors so that no sparks are produced.
If brazing is required, the following procedures must be performed in the correct order.
To be carried out in order:
-Remove the refrigerant. If recovery is not required by national regulations, drain the refrigerant to the
outside. Make sure that there is no danger from the drained refrigerant. If in doubt, have a person guard
the outlet. Take special care that drained refrigerant does not flow back into the building.
-Evacuate the refrigerant circuit.
-Purge the refrigerant circuit with nitrogen for 5 minutes.
-Evacuate again.
-Remove parts to be replaced by cutting, not by flaming.
-Purge the soldering point with nitrogen during the soldering process.
-Carry out a leak test before filling with refrigerant.
Carefully reassemble sealed enclosures, replace worn seals.
Check safety devices before commissioning.
Decommissioning
If safety is compromised during decommissioning, the refrigerant charge must be removed before
decommissioning.
Ensure sufficient ventilation at the site of the unit.
Note that system malfunctions can be caused by refrigerant loss and refrigerant leakage is possible.
Capacitors must be discharged in such a way that no sparks are produced.
Remove the refrigerant. If recovery is not required by national regulations, discharge the refrigerant to
the outside.
Make sure that the draining refrigerant does not pose a hazard. If in doubt, have a person guard the
outlet. Take special care that drained refrigerant does not flow back into the building.
