Original installation and operating instructions.
1. Applications
Grundfos cable termination kits, type KM, are
specially designed to join the motor cable and the
submersible drop cable (multicore cables) during
installation of submersible pumps.
The Grundfos cable termination kit can be used for
cables made of polyethylene, PVC, synthetic or
natural rubber, etc. for voltages up to 1000 V and the
cross-sectional areas:
•
1.5 to 2.5 mm² (product number 96021462),
•
4.0 to 6.0 mm² (product number 96021473).
2. Cable jointing
1. Strip and cut off both cables as shown in fig. A.
2. Degrease the leads and the sheath on either side
of the joint by means of the cleaning tissue.
3. Sandpaper the sheath of both cable ends for a
length of about 150 mm.
Note: Avoid longitudinal scratches in the cable.
4. Slide the inner sleeves over the leads and the
outer sleeve over one of the cables, fig. B.
5. Join the leads by means of the connectors using
a crimping tool, fig. C.
6. Centre the inner sleeves over the connectors and
shrink them, fig. D.
7. The shrinking procedure has been completed
when the sealing compound comes out from both
ends.
8. Slide the outer sleeve over the joint and shrink it,
figs. E and F.
9. Let the joint cool to ambient temperature before it
is subjected to mechanical stress, fig. G.
