EC axial high-performance fans HQ.. EC / HRF.. EC / HW.. EC
2.0
Personnel qualification
The electrical connection and commissioning of the EC fan must only be carried out by qualified electricians.
– Installation, servicing and maintenance work must only be carried out by authorised specialists (industrial mechanics,
mechatronics engineers, metal workers or persons with comparable training).
– EC axial high-performance fans can be used by children over the age of 8 as well as persons with physical, sensory, or
mental disabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they are supervised or instructed with regard to the safe use of
the unit and they understand the resulting risks. Children must not play with the unit. Cleaning or user maintenance must
not be carried out by unsupervised children.
2.1
Protection against contact
– The operator is responsible for the on-site adherence to standard safety distances (cf. EN ISO 13857) on the intake and
discharge side of the EC fan.
– HQ.. EC, HW.. EC fan types are delivered with a intake-side protection guard (pursuant to EN 60335-1 and EN ISO 13857)
as standard. HRF.. EC fan types are delivered without a protection guard as standard. If protection guards are (additionally)
required, they can be ordered as accessories.
– EC axial high-performance fans, which are protected by their installation method (e.g. installation in ventilation ducts or
closed assemblies), do not require protection guards if the plant provides the necessary level of safety.
2.2
Direction of flow and rotation
The EC axial high-performance series have a fixed motor rotation direction which is marked on the units by an arrow
(no reversing mode!).
During installation and before commissioning, the desired air flow direction must be respected!
2.3
Operating modes
The EC fans HQ.., HW.., HRF.. EC 250 A, 315 A, 355 A have a terminal strip for Jumpers ("1", "2", "3") on the integrated
electronic circuit board for operating mode selection and the reversal of rotation direction.

Jumpers must only be set by Helios!
Changing the operating mode and the rotation direction is not permitted!
– Default condition
With regard to the EC fan types HQ.. EC, HW.. EC, HRF.. EC 250 A, 315 A, 355 A, the operating mode "Constant
torque" is set in the default condition. The integrated electronics software regulates the torque of the motor independent
of the motor speed in this operating mode.
On the basis of the constant torque, impulse-type disturbances in the air flow can lead to strong speed fluc-
tuations. If the air resistance is reduced, the speed increases, and if the air resistance increases, the speed re-
duces accordingly.
With regard to the EC fans HQ.., HW.., HRF.. EC 355 B, 400A, B, 450 A, B, 500 A, B, the operating mode "Constant
torque" is set in the default condition. The integrated electronics software regulates the torque of the motor independent
of the current.
