Startup and operation
6.1 Startup
DANGER
Uncontrolled system movement
When starting up and if the magnetic encoder system is
part of a closed loop system whose parameters have not
yet been set, the system may perform uncontrolled
movements. This could result in personal injury and
equipment damage.
► Persons must keep away from the system's
hazardous zones.
► Startup must be performed only by trained technical
personnel.
► Observe the safety instructions of the equipment or
system manufacturer.
To ensure proper functioning of the system, the sensor
module must be calibrated before operation after
alignment and mounting to the magnetic tape / magnetic
disk. In the process, installation tolerances are corrected
and the complete system (sensor module to target) is
tuned.
1. Check connection for tight fit and correct polarity.
Replace damaged connections or devices.
2. Turn on the system.
3. Perform calibration (see chapter 12.7 on page 30).
4. Check measured value in the control unit and reset if
necessary.
