F. PELVIC POSITIONING BELT ADJUSTMENTS:
Length Adjustment:
1.
Remove any belt twists and place the belts outside of the seating area.
2.
Engage wheel locks, seat the child, and snap the pelvic positioning belt ends
together.
3.
Adjust belt length to provide a snug fit.
4.
The adjuster is to the child's left, (D-Fig.26).
Position Adjustment:
The Belt can be mounted to the Pivot bracket in the rear, or the Hip bracket when
needed forward.
WARNING
Before using the wheelchair make sure that the pelvic restraint belt is fitted.
The pelvic restraint belt must be checked on a daily basis to ensure it is free from
any obstruction or adverse wear.
Always make sure that the pelvic restraint belt is correctly secured and adjusted
prior to use.
DANGER
If the strap is too loose, this could cause the user of the wheelchair to slip down
and risk suffocation or serious injury.
Adjust the pelvic restraint belt to suit the user`s needs as follows:
Engage wheel locks, seat the child and snap the pelvic positioning belt ends
together.
Adjust the belt position so buckles are in the centre of the seat.
Feed free belt back through male buckle and slide adjusters.
Ensure belt is not looped at male buckle.
Feed free belt through slide adjusters and male buckle to provide more belt length.
When fastened, check space between the pelvic restraint belt and user.
When correctly adjusted it should not be possible to insert more than the flat of the
hand between the pelvic restraint belt and the user.
The pelvic restraint belt should be fixed so that the belt sits at an angle of 45 degrees
across the user's pelvis.
The user should be upright and be as far back as possible in the seat when correctly
adjusted. The pelvic restraint belt should not allow the user to slip down in the seat.
