4. If necessary, attach the earmuffs (see chapter 4.1.3 Attaching the earmuffs
(optional)).
5. Remove transport foil from visor.
6. If necessary, attach a protective foil (see chapter 5.2.5 Replacing the
protective foil).
7. Connect powered air purifying respirator or air line breathing apparatus:
Fasten the corrugated hose to the device and helmet, and check for secure
fitting.
8. Switch on the device and check whether air is coming out at the front of the
ventilation duct.

9. Don the Dräger X-plore 8000 helmet with visor (see chapter 4.1.4 Donning
®
the Dräger X-plore 8000 with visor).
4.1.1 Adjusting the support ring
NOTICE
To increase the size of the support ring, press lightly on the end into which the
support ring is threaded.
1. A scale has been provided for the support ring. Slide the ends of the support
ring into each other until the support ring is the right size for the user's head
circumference.

2. Adjust the support ring in such a way that it rests on the head above the
ears. For this purpose, several slots have been provided for the 4 flaps on
the support ring. Attach the flaps to the knobs on the head harness.

4.1.2 Adjusting the face cuff

– Adjust the Velcro tabs so that the face cuff rests tightly against the user's
face.
4.1.3 Attaching the earmuffs (optional)

1. Insert the earmuffs into the helmet adapter from below until they click into
place.

1. Fold up the visor.
2. Put the helmet on.
3. Hold the face cuff by the tabs and pull it apart.
4. Pull the face cuff under the chin so that it tightly encloses the face.

► if the helmet fits in place optimally. The support ring must be adjusted to the
head circumference. Only wear the helmet when it is fully assembled and
ready for use (see "Checking serviceability", page 18).
