before working with the product or placing it in operation.

Safety instructions
Observe the safety instructions in the manuals for the lamps connected
to the controller (DIM-Box).
Intended use
Use the controller (DIM-Box) only in dry and clean indoor spaces.
Do not use controller (DIM-Box) in the direct vicinity of chemical emissions
(e.g. oil mist, soldering fumes) or dust sources.
Fuse
EU ≤ 16 A, USA/CAN ≤ 15 A
Improper use
Any use other than that described as intended use is considered to be improper,
and therefore not permitted. Bosch Rexroth AG is not liable for damage resulting
from improper use. The user alone bears any risks associated with improper use.
Improper use includes:
Use in environments with high levels of condensation (humidor)
or in chemical emissions.
Use as an on/off switch for the lamp.
Use without sufficient protection against mechanical effects.
Non-commercial use.

Product description
The controller (DIM-Box) is used for dimming the lighting strength of SL ... LED
system lights with the DIM interface (1 – 10 V).
Identification of the product
Done via the material number (3 842...) on the nameplate (see Figure
5.
Assembly
Observe the safety instructions from the manual 3 842 358 820, "General
safety instructions for electrotechnical installation of MPS components".
Observe the safety instructions in the manuals for the lamps connected
to the controller (DIM-Box).
Installation of the controller (DIM-Box)
Make sure that the electrical operating tools used are in compliance
with the national regulations.
The installation steps are shown in Figure
One controller (DIM-Box).can be used for operating a maximum of 6 system lights.
Electrical installation of the controller (DIM-Box)

Make sure that the installation is only performed by persons with the relevant
electrotechnical knowledge and experience (see manual 3 842 358 820).

Observe the safety instructions in the manual 3 842 358 820, "General safety
instructions for electrotechnical installation of MPS components".

Use only the approved cable (blue coding), see table below.

Seal any connections not used using the closing pieces

The controller (DIM-Box) must not be grounded (SELV (EU)/Class II (USA/CAN),
blue coding!). See also "Technical data".

Commissioning/operation
Only start up the product if you have read and understood the required
and supplementary documentation 3 842 358 820, "General safety
instructions for electrotechnical installation of MPS components".
Make sure that all connections are either being used or are covered. Make sure
that all bolted connections and plug-in connections are properly seated.
Only start up a product which has been completely installed.
The brightness of the lamp can be adjusted between 10% and 100% by turning
the controller knob. The light can be completely extinguished but the lamp
is not switched off and remains supplied with voltage.
System lights can be switched on/off using a socket strip with an on-switch/
off-switch or the main switch for the working area.

Operation

The following warning notice applies to all lamps without a VDE symbol
on the nameplate (3 842 552 220, 3 842 552 222, 3 842 552 224).
Danger to persons through the stroboscopic or wagon-wheel effect!
When operating at reduced/dimmed brightness, the lights are pulsed at 240 Hz
in a manner almost invisible to the human eye.
Moving or rotating objects in this lighting field can appear as if they
are standing still, rotating slowly or rotating backwards.
The dimmed light situation must checked and the lamp are to be operated
at 100% (max. brightness without pulsing) in case of doubt.
8.
Disposal
Careless disposal may lead to environmental contamination.
Dispose of the product in accordance with the regulations in your country.
9.
Upgrading and modification
Do not modify the product.
The Bosch Rexroth warranty only applies to the configuration as delivered,
and to approved upgrades. The warranty shall expire following a modification

supplementary documentation 3 842 358 820, "General safety instructions
for electrotechnical installation of MPS components".
