Installation and connection

• The transformer must be disconnected from the power supply during installation. It is not
sufficient to just turn off at the light switch!
Turn off the power when removing the corresponding electric circuit fuse or the switch of the
circuit breaker. Secure it against an unauthorised re-start, e.g., with a danger sign.
• Check that the mains cable is free of current with an appropriate tester.
• The electronic transformer can be mounted via two lateral openings.
Do not damage the dedicated transformer when mounting!
Pay attention when tightening the screws that no power, gas or water pipes can be
damaged! The same applies when drilling holes for dowels before mounting.
• Depending on the mounting site, the dedicated transformer may be mounted in the space
between a concrete ceiling and the wood ceiling, for example. The electronic transformer
must not be embedded in insulating material because it could overheat; maintain a clearance
of at least 20 cm around the transformer.
The maximum ambient temperature permitted for the electronic transformer is
+50 °C, you should therefore keep sufficient clearance from other appliances or
heating/water pipes.
You should not mount the electronic transformer in the direct vicinity of other electric/
electronic devices; keep a clearance of at least 20 cm.
Installation steps
1. Open the two covers on the left and right of the electronic transformer, by removing the
screws.
2. Connect the mains cable to the corresponding terminal clamps (observe the inscription on
the transformer!) on the primary side (label "PRI").
The maximum connection power at the mains voltage output must not exceed 500 W
otherwise the electronic transformer will be damaged (Overload of the conducting
paths on the board), loss of warranty!
3. Connect the lamps to the electronic transformer.
Depending on the model of the transformer you bought, there are one, two or three
connection terminal pairs.
Any number of lamps can be operated via appropriate cables and distributor clamps
provided that the maximum connected load of the transformer is not exceeded.
The connecting cable between transformer and lamp must not exceed a maximum
length of 2 m.
4. Replace the two covers that were removed at the beginning and screw them in place. Note
that the covers are different, they only fit on one side.
These covers simultaneously relieve the strain from the mains cables or low voltage cables.
Never operate the halogen transformer without covers!
Make sure that the cables are neatly seated in the strain reliefs!
5. Verify that the correct output voltage has been set. Then turn on the mains voltage and
the lamps connected to the transformer will light up (if necessary, turn on the light switch).
Operation
Observe all the safety and mounting instructions contained in these operating
instructions.
• Only use in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet.
• Never look directly into the lit-up lamp, this can lead to eye damage!
• Avoid the following unfavourable environmental conditions at the installation location and
during transportation:
- Damp or excess air humidity
- Direct sunlight
- Extreme cold or heat
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loudspeakers
• Ensure that the insulation for the entire product is neither damaged nor destroyed. The
housing may not be opened (only for mounting and connecting as described in this user's
manual)! The housing does not contain any serviceable parts.
• Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, do NOT connect the device to the mains voltage! Do not
turn it on at all in this case; it is no longer usable! There is a risk of a life-threatening
electric shock!

Care and cleaning

• The product is maintenance-free for you. You should never take it apart (except for mounting/
connecting as described in these operating instructions).
• Disconnect the product from the mains before each cleaning.
• Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions as
they can cause damage to the housing and malfunctioning.
• Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.
Disposal
This symbol must appear on any electrical and electronic equipment placed on the
EU market. This symbol indicates that this device should not be disposed of as
unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
Owners of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) shall dispose
of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Spent batteries and accumulators,
which are not enclosed by the WEEE, as well as lamps that can be removed from
the WEEE in a non-destructive manner, must be removed by end users from the
WEEE in a non-destructive manner before it is handed over to a collection point.
Distributors of electrical and electronic equipment are legally obliged to provide free take-back
of waste. Conrad provides the following return options free of charge (more details on our
website):
• in our Conrad offices
• at the Conrad collection points
• at the collection points of public waste management authorities or the collection points set up
by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG
End users are responsible for deleting personal data from the WEEE to be disposed of.
It should be noted that different obligations about the return or recycling of WEEE may apply in
countries outside of Germany.

Technical data

Important:
– For further technical details see the labels on the housing of the electronic transformer!
