2. Press and hold this button to select calibration mode.
1. Press this button to select the operating mode: conductance, TDS or salinity.
button
2. Press and hold this button to toggle the temperature unit between °C and °F.
1. Press this button to freeze a measured value on the LC display (6).
button
2. Press and hold this button to switch to the maximum/minimum values on the display
mode. Press this button briefly to toggle between the maximum and minimum values.
3. Press and hold this button to delete the measured value so that you can take a new
measurement.
c) Pre/post-measurement procedures
1. Remove the protective cap (2).
2. Rinse the measuring probe (1) and the probe tip (11) with clear, distilled water and wipe
them completely dry.
3. Press the
button (4) to switch the device on.
The measuring probe (1) is a wear part with a limited lifespan. For this reason, the
measuring probe is not covered by the warranty/guarantee.
4. Screw the protective cap (2) back on after use.
5. Do not wipe or touch the internal black electrodes (10).
d) Switching on/off
• Briefly press the
button (4) to switch the meter on or off.
• All segments of the LC display (6) are displayed on switch-on. The measured value is then
displayed.
• The meter switches off automatically after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity.
e) Calibration
You will need the supplied standard solution 1413 µS/cm in order to be able to calibrate the
product.
1. Remove the protective cap (2).
2. Press the
button (4) to switch the device on. Check that the 'COND' symbol is displayed
in the operating mode symbol bar (D).
3. Leave the measuring probe in the air and ensure that a value of 0 µS/cm is displayed. If it
is, calibrate in the standard solution.
4. Ready the standard solution 1413 µS/cm.
5. Use the probe tip (11) to stir for a few seconds and then wait without stirring until a stable
measurement value is displayed on the LC-Display (6).
6. To start the calibration process, press and hold the
'CAL' appears on the LC display. The value 1413 µS/cm starts to flash on the LC display.
7. The display stops flashing and shows 'SA' followed by 'End'. The calibration process is now
complete. The device returns to measuring mode automatically. If the calibration process
fails, 'SA' is not displayed.
To measure a liquid with high conductance, it is better to calibrate with a standard
solution of 12.88 mS/cm.
8. If 0 µS/cm was not displayed for the air test, calibrate the measuring probe in the air to
begin with. To this end, follow the steps above without immersing the measuring probe in
the standard solution. Only then should you calibrate with the aid of the standard solution.
f) Taking measurements
Measuring conductance, TDS and salinity
1. Rinse the probe tip (11) with clear water and wipe it completely dry.
2. Press the
button (4) to switch the meter on.
3. Select the operating mode by pressing the
the operating mode ('COND', 'SALT' or 'TDS') is displayed in the operating mode symbol
bar (D).
4. Use the probe tip (11) to stir for a few seconds and then wait without stirring until a stable
measurement value is displayed on the LC-Display (6).
5. The unit of measurement (µS/cm, mS/cm, ppm or ppt) is selected automatically for measu-
rements in operating modes 'COND', 'TDS', and 'SALT'.
6. If the measured value is outside of the measurement range, '----' appears on the LC display.
The automatic temperature compensation (ATC) ensures precise measurements
when there are different liquid temperatures.
Freezing a measured value on the display
• In order to retain the measured value on the display when the probe is removed from the
button (5) to freeze the measured value. The data hold
measuring liquid, press the
symbol 'HOLD' (K) appears on the LC display (6).
• Pressing the
button again deactivates the data hold function and releases the measured
value. The data hold symbol 'HOLD' (K) disappears from the LC display.

Displaying the maximum and minimum values and switching temperature units
The meter can display the maximum and minimum values of a measurement.
• Press and hold the
button (5) until 'MAX' (C) and 'MIN' (A) flash together on the LC
display (6).
• Press this button briefly to toggle between the maximum and minimum values.
• Press and hold the
button to leave the min/max value display. The 'MAX' and 'MIN'
symbols disappear from the LC display (6).
Please note that the automatic shut-off function does not work if the device is in
MAX/MIN mode.
• Press and hold the
button (9) to toggle the temperature unit between °C and °F.
g) Ending operation
' button (4) to switch the meter off after the measurement.
1. Press the '
2. Rinse the measuring probe (1) with distilled water after use.
3. Screw the protective cap (2) back on.
h) Replacing the measuring probe (1)
1. Turn the screw cap (3) anticlockwise and remove it.
2. Remove the measuring probe (1) from the meter.
3. Carefully insert the new measuring probe into the meter.
4. Turn the screw cap clockwise until it is securely in place.

Care and cleaning

• This product does not require any maintenance, except for replacing the batteries and re-
placing/cleaning the measuring probe. Do not attempt to disassemble the product (except
for the actions described in these instructions, such as replacing the measuring probe).
• Clean the product carefully using a soft, clean cloth. Do not press too hard on the display,
as this may result in scratch marks or damage its function.
• Only distilled (e.g. deionised) water may be used to clean the tips of the measuring probe,
otherwise the measured values may be affected. Only use paper towels to dry the measu-
ring probes.
• Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these may
damage the casing or cause the product to malfunction.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be placed in household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with applicable
regulatory guidelines.
Remove any inserted batteries and dispose of them separately from the product.
b) Batteries
You are required by law to return all used batteries (Battery Directive). They must not
be placed in household waste.
Contaminated batteries are labelled with this symbol to indicate that disposal in the
domestic waste is forbidden. The designations for the heavy metals involved are: Cd
= Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (indicated on the battery, e.g. below the waste
bin icon on the left).
Used batteries can be returned free of charge to local collection points, our stores or battery
retailers.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to environmental protection.
