OPERATION
1. Check the circular vial no. 8 and the tubular vial no. 12 by turning the telescope around its vertical axis
and make sure that the bubbles are always coming back to centre. If not remove half of deviation with
the adjustment screws and the other half with the foot screw no. 9.
2. Direct the telescope to a well visible mark at a distance of approx. 100 m which is about the eye
level. Take the reading.Turn the theodolite around its vertical axis and rotate the telescope. Take a se-
cond reading of the same mark with the telescope in reverse position. The difference between the two
readings should be 200 gon / 180°. If this is not the case half of the collimation error is to be removed
by turning tangent screw no. 15 and the remaining half with the two reticule adjustment screws which
become accessible when unscrewing the cap placed between part 3 and 5.
3. Proceed as described in afore mentioned paragraph (2) and check the vertical circle accordingly. The
sum of both vertical circle readings must be exactly 400 gon / 360°. Any deviation must be removed
with the vertical tangent screw no. 16 and the two reticule adjustment screws.
4. Set up the theodolite in front of a wall. Direct the telescope to a clearly visible mark at steep angle.
Rotate the telescope to a ground mark. Fix a ground mark for example with a little stone. Turn the
theodolite around its vertical axis and repeat the procedure in reverse telescope position. The cross hair
should hit the ground mark when the telescope is rotated. Otherwise the theodolite should be sent to a
service station for adjustment because of tilting axis error.
