1.5 Responsibility of the Operator

Due diligence in the responsibility area of the operator:
• Ensuring compliance with the intended use.
• Selecting the individual components for the prescribed application area e.g. with
regard to conveyed goods flows, durability of seals, hygiene requirements.
• Designing the equipment and/or devices for regulating, switching, disabling and
controlling.
• Fixing flexible conveying pipework. Swinging pipework must be made safe by
cordoning it off.
• Availability, legibility and completeness of the operating instructions at the
application location as well as training and instructing the staff, among others for
the operating instructions.
• Integration of the operating instructions (installation instructions) in the overarching
installation instructions for the complete system.
• Assigning qualified and authorised personnel.
• Inspection during operation (function, leak tightness)
• Providing personal protective equipment.

1.6 Hazards

Eliminating and/or reducing hazards caused by conveyed goods lies within the area of
responsibility of the operator.
Electrical hazards
There is a danger of electrical shock when working on electrical drive units. The power
supply must be disconnected before any works. Refer to the operating instructions for
electrical equipment for any additional information.
Mechanical hazards
Powered parts can move unexpectedly and cause crushing. The power supply must be
disconnected before any works.
Conveyed goods can escape under high pressure when there are leaks and might e.g.
cause damage to eyes. Always execute inspections during operation.
The compressed air supply must be disconnected and the pipework system, as well as
existing pressure storage devices, must be vented before any works.
When worn, parts may have sharp burrs or broken edges and cause cuts or cutting
injuries. Always wear protective gloves when replacing parts or removing blockages.
