requested from the tank manufacturers.

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

Mode of operation of a limit indicator

ASSEMBLY

Before assembly, check that the product is complete and has not suffered any damage during
transport.
Only install in non-pressurised and neutralised LPG tanks!
Before it is installed in the LPG tank, the overfill prevention device must be examined for
transport damage. Care must be taken to ensure that there is sufficient free capacity during
installation for screwing in the overfill prevention device. In the case of older LPG tanks with a
different welding sleeve arrangement, it may be necessary to swap connections for the safety
pressure gauge and the test connection.
ASSEMBLY must be carried out by a specialised company.
See USER QUALIFICATION!
The specialised company and the operator must observe, comply with and understand all of
the following instructions in this assembly and operating manual. For the system to function
as intended, it must be installed professionally in compliance with the technical rules
applicable to the planning, construction and operation of the entire system.

The principle of a temperature-dependent electrical PTC resistor –
also referred to as PTC thermistor or sensor – is used for the
function of the limit indicator.
If, during filling, the limit indicator is connected to the controller of the
overfill prevention device on the road tanker using a cable, the limit
indicator is supplied with voltage. The resistance of the PTC
thermistor creates a current. The PTC thermistor heats up. The
change in temperature causes the approval signal and the controller
opens the shut-off valve on the road tanker. Once the liquid level
makes contact with the PTC thermistor at the filling level L
tank, the PTC thermistor cools down and the electrical resistance
changes. This change in resistance causes a change in current in
the limit indicator circuit. As a consequence, the controller
immediately stops filling by closing the shut-off valve on the road
tanker.
Filling can also be monitored using the dip valve. The gas flow can
be opened or shut off using the manually operated gas withdrawal
valve
