Important safety information

1. Use only the test button to test the smoke alarm function.
2. Test the smoke detector weekly to ensure proper operation.
3. This smoke detector is designed for use in a single-family home only. Do not install
in non-residential buildings. This smoke detector is not a replacement for a
complete alarm system.
4. Install a smoke detector in every room and on every floor of the house. Smoke
may not reach the smoke detector for many reasons. If a fire starts in a remote
part of the house, on another floor, in a chimney, or on the other side of a closed
door, wall, or roof, the smoke may not reach the smoke detector in time to alert
household members. A smoke detector will not immediately detect a fire except
in the room or area in which it is installed.
5. If any of the roommates are hearing impaired, install special smoke detectors with
lights or vibrating devices to alert the occupants.
6. Smoke detectors can only sound an alarm when they detect smoke or combustion
particles in the air. They do not detect heat, flame or gas.
7. Smoke detectors have limitations. This Smoke Alarm is not foolproof and is not
guaranteed to protect lives or property from fire. Smoke alarms are not a
substitute for insurance. Homeowners and renters should insure their lives and
property. In addition, it is possible for the smoke detector to fail at any time.
Therefore, you should test the smoke detector weekly and replace it at the end of
its life.
