WARNING: Before turning on the "Pause Function", identify the source of the smoke
and make sure the condition is safe.
DANGER: If the smoke detector continuously pulses alarms and not because of a test,
then the unit is sensing smoke, THE SOUND OF THE ALARM REQUIRES YOUR
IMMEDIATE ATTENTION AND ACTION.
Installation
The smoke alarm can be installed in any room (except the bathroom, kitchen and dusty
areas) and any other area of the home so that occupants can hear and respond to the
alarm. For minimum protection, install an alarm in the hallway between living and
sleeping areas. Place the unit as close as possible to the living quarters and make sure
the alarm is audible in the bedrooms.
Single-story home
Install a smoke detector on the ceiling of each bedroom and in the hallway/corridor
outside each separate sleeping area. If a hallway in a sleeping area is more than 9m
long, install a smoke detector at each end. If there is a basement: install a smoke
detector at the basement ceiling at the bottom of the stairwell.
Multi-story dwelling
Install a smoke detector on the ceiling of each bedroom and in the hallway/overflow
outside each separate sleeping area. If a hallway in a sleeping area is more than 9m
long, install a smoke alarm at each end. Install a smoke alarm at the top of a staircase
from the first to the second floor.
