• For the connection of intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe terminals installing
in the same enclosure, then these must be separated by at least 50 mm. This may
be achieved by physical spacing or by fitting the correct partition between the
different terminal groups.
• The installer shall ensure that the minimum creepage and clearance distances
specified in the appropriate standard IEC/EN 60079-7, IEC/EN 60079-11 will be
maintained. It's only allowed to use wires which are fits and are release to the
terminals. Take care about national rules for wiring and for the installation.
• Insulation of conductors must adhere to the insulation stripping length of the
individual terminal as defined by the manufacturer.
• Observe the national regulations for installation and selection of cables.
• In case of maximum assembly, current load and an ambient temperature of > 40 °C,
conductors as well as cables and glands have to be suitable for a temperature range
> 80 °C.
• Ensure that any wiring does not interfere with the enclosure lid during opening
and closing.
• The conductor size must not exceed the rated cross-section for the terminal.
The terminal's certified rating limits from the EC examination certificate must also
be observed.
• Where conductors of a smaller cross section than the maximum permitted in a
particular terminal are used, the current rating must be reduced accordingly.
• Each conductor must be put in a terminal clamp.
• All used and unused terminal clamps must be tightened fully by the end user.
• Tighten all terminal blocks to the torque values as specified by the manufacturer.
• Avoid bunching the conductors as much as possible to prevent "hot spots" forming.
• During installation of the cables/ wires consider the minimum limits of bending
radius. Also take care that the isolation of the wires is not damaged due to sharp
metal edges.
• An earth terminal secured to the assembly rail by screws may be used as an end
bracket.
• Ferrules may be fitted to flexible conductors. These must be fitted correctly, in line
with the instruction of the manufacturer.
