HD-SDI Surveillance Camera
GB
Please read these operating instructions carefully prior to
installation and keep them for later use.
1 Applications
This high-resolution colour camera is especially designed
for use in video surveillance systems (CCTV). It is
equipped with a 3.6 mm fixed-focus lens. Camera fea-
tures include automatic day/night switching with infrared
suppression filter, backlight compensation, digital noise
reduction, mirror-inverted image display, zoom, motion
detection and a masking function to cover or conceal
zones that are not to be monitored. Due to its weather-
proof housing (IP 66), the camera is also suited for out-
door applications. The camera is equipped with a digital
output (SDI) for high-resolution image signals (HD) and
with an analog output for testing purposes. The setting
menu can also be remote-controlled via an RS-485 inter-
face. During darkness, the 23 infrared LEDs (6) illuminate
up to 15 m of the surveillance area.
2 Safety Notes
The camera corresponds to all relevant directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
.
G
The camera housing is weatherproof, but not ab-
solutely watertight. Therefore, do not immerge the cam-
era into water.
G
Protect the camera against extreme temperatures (ad-
missible ambient temperature range: -10 °C to +50 °C).
G
Never touch the lens with your fingers. For cleaning the
lens, only use optical lens cleaners.
G
For cleaning the housing, never use aggressive deter-
gents or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the camera and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage will
be accepted if the camera is used for other purposes
than originally intended, if it is not correctly installed or
if it is not repaired in an expert way.
If the camera is to be put out of operation defin-
itively, take it to a local recycling plant for a dis-
posal which is not harmful to the environment.
3 Installation
1) Loosen the setscrew (8) by means of the hex key sup-
plied, and then remove the outer support ring (3) from
the base (2).
2) At the location of mounting, drill four holes for fixing the
base (drilling jig supplied) and, if necessary, drill a hole
for the connection cable [the cable can also be guided

through the cable inlet (1) at the side of the base].
Screw the base to the location of mounting; make sure
that the service connection and its cap (7) are properly
positioned in the recess of the base.
3) Use a 75 Ω cable to connect the BNC inline jack (14) to
the SDI video input of a monitor. The maximum cable
length possible depends on the cable quality. With the
low-loss special cable KHD-1 from MONACOR, the
maximum cable length is 170 m. Repeaters (e. g.
HDEXT-206) can be inserted to support cable lengths
of several hundred meters.
4) To make menu settings, remove the cap (7) of the ser -
vice connection from the camera and connect the plug
(9) of the operation adapter to the service connection.
Once the menu settings have been made, place the
cap on the service connection and position the service
connection into the recess of the base. For testing pur-
poses, an analog low-resolution video signal is addi-
tionally available at the BNC inline jack (15) of the oper-
ation adapter only while settings are being made.
5) Connect a regulated 12 V power supply with a perma-
nent rating of 430 mA to the red inline jack (13). A low-
voltage plug 5.5 / 2.1 mm (exterior / interior diameter) is
required. Make absolutely sure to observe the correct
polarity (centre contact = +).
CAUTION The infrared LEDs switch on in case of
darkness. When setting up the camera, never look
directly into the lit infrared LEDs from a close range.
The infrared light may cause eye irritation. However,
the infrared radiation is far below the emission limit
and rated risk-free according to EN 62471.
6) To make menu settings by remote control via RS-485,
connect the control unit to the camera, using the
cables "485+/-" (12). Also insulate the connections of
these cables when they are not used; for outdoor
installations, make sure that the connections are pro-
tected against humidity.
7) Please observe the following for outdoor installations:
The connections (12 – 14) and the cable splitter (11)
are not weatherproof and must be protected accord-
ingly.
8) Switch on the monitor connected and align the camera
by means of the monitor image: Screw the outer sup-
port ring (3) onto the base without tightening it so that
it is still possible to turn the camera (5) and the inner
support ring (4) within the outer support ring. Then
position the inner support ring and the camera as
required, making sure that the cable is neither
squeezed in the base nor stretched. Once the align-
ment has been completed, tighten the outer support
ring and secure it by means of the setscrew (8).
