2 Safety Notes

The unit corresponds to all required directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
WARNING The unit is supplied with hazardous
mains voltage (230 V~). Leave servic-
ing to skilled personnel only and do
not insert anything into the ventilation
slots! Inexpert handling of the unit may
cause an electric shock hazard.
During operation, there is a hazard of contact at the
con nections OUTPUT 70 V and 100 V (21) with a
volt age of up to 100 V. All connections must only be
car ried out or changed with the PA system
switched off.

Spritz wasser, hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit und Hit ze
(zulässiger Einsatztemperaturbereich 0 – 40 °C).

Stellen Sie keine mit Flüssigkeit gefüllten Gefäße,
z. B. Trinkgläser, auf das Gerät.

Die in dem Gerät entstehende Wärme muss durch

3 Einsatzmöglichkeiten
Der Verstärker PA-4040 ist für den Aufbau einer
ELA-Anlage zur allgemeinen Beschallung konzi-
piert. Die verschiedenen Lautsprecherausgänge
ermög lichen es, unterschiedliche Lautsprecherkom-
binationen anzuschließen (siehe Abb. 3). Die Laut-
sprecher können auf vier Beschallungszonen aufge-
teilt werden und die Zonen lassen sich unabhängig
voneinander in der Lautstärke einstellen.
An die fünf miteinander mischbaren Eingangs-
kanäle können Mikrofone (CH 1 – 3) oder Geräte mit
einem Line-Pegel-Ausgang (CH 1 – 5) angeschlos-
sen werden. Alle Eingänge lassen sich unabhängig
voneinander den vier Beschallungszonen zuordnen.
Für Notfalldurchsagen oder andere wichtige Durch-
sagen ist ein zusätzlicher Line-Pegel-Eingang vor-
handen. Mit einem separaten Schalter lässt sich auf
diesen Eingang umschalten.
Zur Kontrolle der Zonensignale sind Ausgänge
für einen Kopf hörer und einen 8-Ω-Kontrolllaut -
sprecher vorhanden. Die Zonensignale können ein-
zeln über die Ausgänge LINE OUT (20) oder ge -
mischt über den Ausgang MIX OUT (15) auf weitere
Verstärker oder auf ein Aufnahmegerät gegeben
werden.

Warning – This appliance must be earthed.
If the unit is to be put out of operation de -
finitively, take it to a local recycling plant for
a disposal which is not harmful to the envi-
ronment.
3 Applications
The amplifier PA-4040 has especially been de -
signed for setting up a PA system for general PA
applications. The different speaker outputs allow to
connect various speaker combinations (see fig. 3).
The speakers can be distributed to four PA zones,
and the volume of each zone can be adjusted inde-
pendently of the others.
It is possible to connect microphones (CH 1 – 3)
or units with line level output (CH 1 – 5) to the five
inputs which can be mixed with each other. All inputs
can be assigned to the four PA zones independently
of each other. An additional line level input is provid -
ed for emergency announcements or other impor-
tant announcements. With a separate switch it is
possible to switch to this input.
For monitoring the zone signals, outputs for head-
phones and an 8 Ω monitoring speaker are provid ed.
The zone signals may individually be fed via the out-
puts LINE OUT (20) or mixed via the output MIX
OUT (15) to further amplifiers or to a recorder.
