Regular maintenance of the wheels and their components
is essential to ensure their correct operation, integrity, and
longevity.
KEEP YOUR WHEELS CLEAN
Keeping the wheels and their components clean and free
from foreign objects is essential for their correct operation
and helps you inspect them for damage or wear. Keep your
cleaning products.
Never use a pressure washer to clean your
wheels. Pressurized water penetrates the
bearings and dilutes the grease and/or lubri-
cants, which causes premature wear of the
components and can result in failure, materi-
al damage, and/or accidents.
IN SPECT YOUR WH EELS
BEFORE EACH USE
Perform a quick inspection before each ride to verify that
small problems that could become major issues when
riding. Consult your bike manual to learn the process for
checking its components.
Check that the wheels turn smoothly and there are no
lateral deviations. Pull the wheel slightly to the sides to
check that there is no lateral play in the bearings. Check
for any loose or broken spokes. Check that the axles
or quick releases are securely tightened to the correct
torque. Any component in poor condition must be re-
placed immediately.
Inspect the tires for punctures and/or wear. Check the tire
pressure and look for air leaks.
Tires with deep punctures and wear beyond the manufac-
turer's recommendation should be replaced immediately.
TECHNICAL MANUAL
Many of the repairs and maintenance work
on wheels, such as tensioning and replacing
of spokes, changing hub bearings, maintain-
chanical knowledge and tools and must be
carried out by a professional, preferably an
authorized Orbea dealer. If you decide to car-
ry out wheel maintenance or repair yourself,
ask a professional to check their compliance
before use.
Failure to adhere to maintenance checks can
lead to component damage that can result
in property damage and/or crashes, which
could further result in serious injury or death.
Damage to components resulting from lack
of or improper maintenance are not covered
by the warranty conditions.
For non-Orbea components mounted on
our wheels, consult the user manuals from
the respective manufacturer(s) and review the
and maintenance schedules.
MA I N T E N A N C E S CH E DU L E S
Refer to the following table for maintenance checks and
schedules for wheels and their components.
The maintenance schedule for the compo-
nents indicated below are largely depend-
ent on factors such as weather conditions,
bike cleanliness, and overall use. Adverse
weather considerably reduces the life of the
components and increases the frequency
of maintenance intervals; components that
accumulate dirt wear out quicker; and more
demanding use of the bike requires more fre-
quent maintenance intervals.

Manually inspect the tension and condition of the spokes
Manually inspect the hub and hub bearings for spin and play
Inspect the tires for pressure and air leaks
Inspect the rims, hubs, and spokes for damage
Clean sealant from the rims, tires, and valves
Replace the rim strip (standard or tubeless), if necessary
Inspect the spoke tension with a tensiometer
Inspect the hub bearings, service the hub and bearings
according to the manufacturer's instructions, if necessary
Replace the inner tube on standard tires, if necessary
* These times may be shorter depending on the style and conditions of use.
** Heavier users or those who use the wheels close to its weight limit may require more frequent interval periods.
