ASSEMBLY/
SAFETY ASPECTS
WARNING!
Using a hydrofoil in general involves risks which don´t occur when using twintips or directionals.
In order to minimize risk, read the following steps and implement them in your riding accordingly.
NEVER GO OUT ALONE
Due to the foil's general geometry and sharp
edges, the risk of injury is greater than with
normal kite equipment. Make sure you have
other people around who can help in case of
emergency.
WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
To avoid injury, wear a protective vest and
helmet.
CHECK YOUR ENVIRONMENT
When entering and leaving the water, make
sure the water depth is at least mast length +
50 cm. In doing so, you avoid collisions with
underwater obstacles and severe damage of
your foil parts.
Foil parts are sharp and may lead to injury
or death. Ensure your board always stays
between you and your foil, especially when
entering and leaving the water.
Get used to foiling. Foils have different beha-
vior than normal kitesurf equipment. First,
make sure you can handle the larger and
more complex geometry and slow down your
movements in the water to avoid kicking the
foil.
en
Foiling may lead to decisions to go out on
very low-wind days. Make sure you have
an option to exit the water downwind if the
wind drops and you cannot relaunch your
kite.
When storing or assembling your hydrofoil,
make sure to lay it down completely to pre-
vent the wind or other objects tipping it over.
When falling off your Hydrofoil, use your
arms to protect your head. The hydrofoil
maintains speed and direction when you
dismount.
Never leave your foil unattended in the
water. The downwind drifting speed is much
higher than conventional kiteboards.
