There are several ways to share your Drobo between multiple
computers.
If you need to connect your Drobo to a network, you must use
DroboShare, a unique companion to Drobo. Using Drobo with
DroboShare, computers will show Drobo in their list of network devices.
Please see "DroboShare" on page 20 for information on how to set up
and configure DroboShare.
Note: Drobo S is not compatible with DroboShare.
If you are going to move your Drobo to multiple computers, you must
make sure the file system format you choose during setup supports the
operating systems, if they are in fact different. Only the FAT32 format
option in the Drobo Dashboard ensures that Macs, PCs, and Linux
machines will be able to read and write data on Drobo. FAT32 is an
older file system format that is generally less protective of your data
than modern (journaled) file systems such as HFS+ or NTFS. It also has
some performance and file size limitations.
Both Mac OS X and Windows-based computers have built in file sharing
capabilities. You can use these to share your Drobo with other
computers on your network. The one drawback is that the computer
which is sharing the Drobo must be turned on, in order for others to
have access to the Drobo.
