9. Electrical connections

The electrical connections are made to screw terminals
which are easily accessible from the front of the instrument
(see Fig. 9) and can accommodate wire gauges up to

Make sure that the cables are not live when
making the connections!
The 230 V power supply and 250 V contact
output is potentially dangereous

... the signal input and output contact cables
should be twisted pairs and run as far as
possible away from heavy current cables!
In all other respects, observe all local regulations
when selecting the type of electrical cable and
installing them!
In the case of "Intrinsically safe" explosion-proof
versions [EEx ia] IIC with I.S. measuring input, the
supplementary information given on the EC-Type-
Examination Certificate, the EN 60 079-14 and also
local regulations applicable to electrical installations
in explosion hazard areas must be taken into
account!

Notes

9.1.1 Connecting the signal inputs

In the case of switch amplifiers with monitored inputs, signal
inputs which are not connected (open-circuit signalling
circuits) cause an open-circuit input alarm.
To avoid this, place the input monitoring switch "
"OFF" position (to the left
If only one channel of a dual-channel unit is being used and
the input has to be monitored, connect a resistor (1...15 kΩ)
across the unused input. This prevents unnecessary alarms
by the red LED.
Where a contact is used instead of an active sensor and the
input has to be monitored, connect two resistors directly at
the contact as shown in Fig. 12.
