Operating the Electrical Equipment
WARNING! Lethal voltage. Do not, at any
point in time, open the machine's electrical
system unless you are authorized to do so.
WARNING! This equipment should not
be used outdoors without the appropriate
protection against rain, snow, fog and
humidity. Humidity damages will not be
covered under warranty.
The machine must be connected via
a residual circuit breaker if it is used
outdoors or in a room that is not heated.
Electrical connection:
When the machine is set up according to the instructions
above, when the instructions have been read and
understood, when the control panel is in the OFF
position and the emergency stop is pushed down (in
other words, after verifying that all the safety measures
have been taken), then the control panel can be
connected to the correct voltage (3 phase, 400 V, 50 Hz,
16 A fuse).
To start the motor:
1.
Verify that the key of the interlocking safety switch
located on the front non-operator guard is in place.
2. Turn ON the control panel (if the green ON light
doesn't turn ON turn the switch back OFF and
ensure that the machine has been properly plugged
in).
3. Unlock the emergency button to the OFF position
(up).
4. Hold on the control lever (located on the push
handle) to press down the dead man's switch. If the
dead man's grip is released the motor will stop.
5. Push the ON green button on the control panel.
Make sure that the machine runs in the correct
direction by checking the cooling fans of the motor.
They should rotate counterclockwise, as seen from
the operator's work area.
If the motor rotates incorrectly: release the control
lever, press the emergency button down, turn OFF
the control panel and unplug the control panel from
the electrical outlet. Then access the terminal box
and invert the wire U1 and V1. Re-install the terminal
box cover and restart the motor by following the
steps from 1 to 4.
6. To stop, release control lever or press the emergency
stop button.

Checking the Safety Switches
Control Panel OFF Switch — The control
panel is equipped with an OFF switch. Test
the OFF switch once a day before each use:
Start the electric motor ON and press the
OFF switch. If it does not shut the electric
motor OFF, it is not working—therefore stop
using the equipment and contact Norwood
immediately to order a replacement.
Start the bandsaw without holding the control lever.
The bandsaw should not start.
Turn OFF the main ON/OFF switch and press the
Start button. The bandsaw should not start.
Pull out the safety cover, turn ON the main switch,
hold on the control lever and press start. The
bandsaw should not start.
If any of these safety tests do not work as described,
do not use the equipment and contact Norwood.
Maintenance of the Electrical Equipment
WARNING! Before doing any maintenance,
turn the control panel to the OFF position
and un-plug the equipment from the electrical
outlet.
If the electric motor and the electrical control panel are
kept outdoors or in a room that is not heated, there is risk
of accumulating condensation water. Regularly check
the motor terminals by removing the terminal box cover.
Check the electrical control panel by opening it.
Before every use check that all visible parts of the
electrical system, such as cables, plugs, controls,
switches, junction boxes are intact. Damaged parts must
immediately be replaced by a qualified electrician before
putting the sawmill in use.
Once the job is done, you should remove the sawdust
from the electrical components.
Do not stretch the cable that connects the electrical
control panel to the motor.
