1 Connect

Depending on the hardware, the Securepoint NextGen UTM and VPN
gateways are equipped with a different number of network cards LAN 1, LAN 2
to LAN n. The various hardware types and their properties can be found as an
overview in the Securepoint Wiki.

Positioning in the network
An appliance is placed behind the modem or router in the network structure. If
a network is run behind the appliance, a switch or hub must be connected. The
modem or router is connected to port LAN 1 of the appliance. The switch or, as
the case may be, the individual computer is connected to port LAN 2. The ports
LAN 3 to LAN n are intended for further networks. RJ45 cables are used for the
connections.
Note: If your computer does not have a Gigabit interface and you connect
directly to LAN 2 without a switch or hub, please use a crossover cable.
