Function

The lubrication unit LU 2/LS has two operating modes:
• IMPULSE mode (factory default)
• TIME mode
Please also observe the manufacturer documentation listed in Table 1.
For lubricating the rollers of the WT 2/LS workpiece pallets we recommend
operating the LU 2/LS lubrication unit in IMPULSE mode (factory default):
How is lubrication done:
Lubrication process in IMPULSE operating mode (factory default):
• NLGI consistency class 2 grease is used for lubricating the rollers of the WT 2/LS
and the guide rail of the LS 2 linear section.
• Before initial commissioning, the guide rails must be manually lubricated.
• The PLC (programmable logic controller) issues the signal to the LU 2/LS for
delivering lubricant (= interruption of the supply voltage for > 1 seconds and
restart).
• When the supply voltage returns, the servomotor starts up the LU 2/LS and
pushes the preset quantity of lubricant into the lubrication line.
• The lubricant quantity is fed to the lubrication brush via a hose line.
• The lubricant is transferred via the lubricating brush to the rollers of the WT 2/
LS workpiece pallets entering the LS 2 linear section.
• During operation, the lubricant is distributed from the rollers to the guide rail of
the linear section.
• The amount of lubricant on the guide rail can be adjusted by means of the
delivery volume and the frequency of lubricant delivery according to the
application.

IMPULSE mode

(factory default)
In IMPULSE mode delivery volume can be entered in defi ned steps.
According to the volume of the LC 2/LS (= LC120) grease cartridge entered, a
certain number of lubricant deliveries are carried out with the corresponding
delivery volume.
• The operating mode, the remaining impulses (deliveries) per set grease
cartridge, the set cartridge (LC120) required delivery volume per impulse
(delivery) are shown in the display.
• If the number of remaining impulses (deliveries) is 100 or higher, the following
indicator appears in the display
• The delivery is carried out once with supply voltage (rising fl ank).
• The supply voltage must be present at least as long enough for the delivery
process to be completed (> 2 min).
• Before the following delivery the supply voltage must be shut down for
> 1 second.
• The signaling/display of system states and errors is only possible when the
supply voltage is present.
