GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Observe and follow the safety instructions contained in this section and in the following
subsections to avoid safety risks when using the device. You must also observe the
respective regulations of your country and/or region.
2.1

SAFETY OF PERSONS

Electric fences, in particular those protecting livestock, are generally safe if they are
properly installed and have the correct connection technology. However, electric fences
can trigger shocks with dangerous consequences, particularly for people with existing
health problems. Knowledge of the risks associated with electric fences can help you to
take the necessary precautionary measures.
WARNING AGAINST ELECTRICAL VOLTAGES
► If you have any doubts concerning the installation of the electrified animal
fence (electric fence), we recommend that you seek the help of a qualified
professional.
► This device must not be used by persons (including children) with physical,
sensory or mental impairments.
► This device must also not be used by persons without sufficient experience
and specialist knowledge unless supervised by or under the guidance of
another person who is responsible for their safety.
► Ensure that the electrified animal fence (electric fence) and additional
equipment are correctly set up, properly operated and serviced at regular
intervals in order to minimise the hazards to people, animals and their
surroundings.
► Keep children away from the fence if possible. Children must be supervised
in the vicinity of the fence.
► Getting entangled in electrified fence netting can lead to electric shock. Do not
erect electric fence nets in areas where children may be present.
► Only use weaker energisers or outputs with limited pulse energy (1 joule) in
areas where children may be present and on electric fences with alternating
polarity (positive/negative fences).
► Avoid constructing electrified animal fences (electric fences) that may entangle
people.
► In most cases, contact with electric fences triggers a harmless shock, which
initially occurs on first contact. Correctly installed fences generate shocks in
pulses that allow the victim to move away immediately on the first shock.
However, fences that do not pulse can send a continuous electric shock to the
body over an extended period, which can have fatal consequences. In some
cases, trapped victims can lose consciousness if they come into contact with
an electric fence. Death cannot be completely ruled out in the event of an
electrical accident.
► Avoid touching electrified animal fences (electric fences), particularly with
your head, neck or upper body. Do not climb over the fence, through the
fence or under the fence. Use a gate or other crossing point to pass through
the fence.
