before and during use, plan for rescue procedures that
are effective and safe. Length adjustment must be made
in a safe location that does not present a fall hazard. To
avoid a strangulation hazard, be sure to never hold the
head between two parallel lanyard branches or sling sec-
tions. If the lanyard is used as an anchor device to EN
795-B, it is recommended that date of next or last ins-
pection is marked. As an anchor device, the lanyard
should only be used for PPE and not for lifting equip-
ment. If the lanyard is used with an anchor device to EN
795, class C, the deflection of the horizontal, movable
guide must likewise be considered when determining the
clear height below the user. If the lanyard is used as
unique mean for working at height (e.g. aid climbing),
only anchor point according to EN 795 should be used.

SERVICE LIFE AND REPLACEMENT
The service life of the product mainly depends on the
type and frequency of use as well as on external influen-
ces. When approaching the durability limits or at the end
of the maximum service life indicated, the product must
be removed from use. Products made of synthetic fibres
(Polyamide, Polyester, Dyneema®, Aramid, Vectran®)
are subject to some aging even if not used; their service
life especially depends on the intensity of the ultraviolet
radiation and other climatic conditions they are exposed
to. When approaching the durability limits or the end of
the maximum service life indicated, the product must be
removed from use.
Maximum service life
With optimum storage conditions and without use: 12
years.
Maximum lifetime in use
Providing proper use and no detectable sign of wear
showing as well as under optimum storage conditions:
10 years.
Frequent use or extremely high loading may substantially
reduce the useful life.
Therefore, before use, check the product for possible
damages and correct function. Remove the product from
service immediately if any of the following applies (list
non-exhaustive):
• if there are doubts concerning safe use;
• if the edges of webbing are damaged or if fibres have
been pulled from the webbing;
• if visible signs of abrasion show on seams;
• if the product has come in contact with chemicals;
• if a hard fall load has occurred;
• if the sheath is badly damaged (core is visible).
Inspection and documentation
In case of commercial use, the product must be inspec-
ted regularly or at least once a year by the manufacturer,
a qualified person or an approved inspection body/
agency; thereafter it may have to be serviced or removed
from use. Legibility of the markings has to be checked.
Such inspections and service must be documented for
each product. The following information must be recor-
ded: Product identification and name, manufacturer's
name and contact details, unique identification, date of
manufacture, date of purchase, date of initial use, date of
next regular inspection, result of inspection, and signa-
