Attention!
Please read the entire manual before using the hub.
MAG 190 / Kong / Kong Superscharf – Rear Hubs
The tune MAG 190 and Kong rear hubs are reliable and light and can be used in any
condition without load restriction. But please attend following requirements and
advices:
Any other use than with threefold crossed spokes aborts warranty.
Please take care of the correct spoke tension
Manual
Tune allows a spoke tension for its hubs up to 1000N. Please take care of
prescriptions for lower tension may be given for some rims
Maintenance:
Both hubs can be dismounted with tune´s tool W- MAG. Screw off the final nut behind
the freewheel with two 5mm Allen-keys. Pull off the freewheel by hand or with W –
MAG. Press out the axle with W 3 and W 5.
The bearings itself are removed by help of a 5-15mm round bar and a hammer.
Depending on the batch bearings may be glued in or press fitted. In case the bearings
do not come out easily, heat up the hub around the bearings to around 50-70°C.
New bearings (we recommend tune spare bearings: specified grease with higher
filling level) are pressed in with W 6 (body) and W 7 (freewheel). A complete set of
bearings consists of 1 x 61802 2RS, 1 x XOT 15 M00 (tune- patent, not commercially
available) and 1 x 61802 2RS. All bearings are sealed 2RS what means, the
extremely good seals may provide a relatively high friction in the beginning. Mounting
of the hub takes place in the opposite sequence. The pawls of the freewheel are
lubricated by some drops of normal motor oil, while the teeth in the hub are smeared
MoS
slightly by a
containing grease for low temperatures.
2-
The critical steps are pulling off and pressing on the freewheel: Take care that the
pawls can not fell out. In this case the springs stand up and can be damaged easily.
Before screwing the nut on the axle as the final step the bearings must be released.
Put W 3 on the axle and with 2-3 distinct beats by a hammer the bearings slip into the
right position. Use W 3 as a help. Close the nut until the final stop (not very hard) and
open it around 45°.
Test regularly the correct adjustment of the final nut.
Campa 10-speed: Campagnolo has changed the thread of the freewheel several
times over the years. To eliminate confusion tune offers an own cassette- nut that
saves up to 15g to the original.
If you note one (only one!) sheared- threw web on the freewheel you have mounted
the relating gear just the wrong side.
Wear on the webs of the freewheel visible by makings are normal and do not proceed
after a certain time. File off carefully overstanding edges for easier handling. Tune
wishes you a lot of fun with this outstanding hub.
