Intended use
The digital dial gauge is used to measure heights or height differences on objects or surfaces to be
measured in production and development.
Any other use than that described above, could lead to damage to this product and involves the risk of
short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
Always observe the safety notes included in these operating instructions.
If you transfer this product to third persons, also pass on these operating instructions!

• For safety reasons, any unauthorised conversion and/or modification to the product is
not permitted.
• The dial gauge consists of electrically conductive metal. For this reason, the dial gauge
may not be used for measurements on live cables or objects; danger to life from elec-
tric shock! Besides, the object to be measured may be damaged by a short circuit!
• Do not apply the dial gauge on sensitive objects or surfaces since the sharp edges may
cause scratch marks on the object to be measured.
• The product must not get damp or wet.
• Do not allow children to play with the device.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings
for children.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental

General Battery Instructions
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being swallowed by children
or domestic animals. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable protec-
tive gloves.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fire. There is a
risk of explosion!
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Risk of explosion!
• Please pay attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.
Inserting/Replacing the Batteries
www.conrad.com
The battery compartment (1) for a battery of type CR2032 is located on the left side of the dial gauge.
Remove the battery holder from the dial gauge carefully. Insert a battery in such a way that the plus
pole ("+") points outwards in direction of the LC display.
Version 10/09
The battery must be replaced if the contrast in the display starts to fade or the dial gauge can no longer
°
be switched on.
Data output
The measured data can be transferred to a PC via the data output (5) through a suitable connection
cable and a suitable software (not included in the delivery, can be acquired optionally as accessory).
For this, observe the operating manual for the connection cable/software.
Operation
• Clean the surface of the test prod carefully prior to each measuring procedure, otherwise you may
get faulty measurements.
• Switch the dial gauge on or off by using the button „ON/OFF" (3).
• With the button „ZERO" (6) the value display can be reset to „0". Thus, both an absolute measure-
ment and a relative measurement (difference) are possible.
• The key „mm/inch" (2) is used to switch between the measurement units „mm" and „inch".
• Pay attention that the dial gauge is not attached in a wedged or inclined fashion since this may lead
to faulty measurements. Ideally, the shaft of the dial gauge must be in a right angle to the measur-
ing surface.
• A spring holds the measuring shaft always on the surface to be measured. Therefore, do not release
the measuring shaft jerkily but place it slowly and carefully onto the surface to be measured. Release
the measuring shaft afterwards. If you release the measuring shaft jerkily, the mechanics inside the
dial gauge may be damaged!
Maintenance and Care
Clean the dial gauge with a dry, clean and soft cloth. Keep water and other liquids away from the dial
gauge since they may lead to corrosion. If required, you can clean the surfaces of the clamping shaft
and the test prod with a suitable oil. Wipe off the surfaces thoroughly afterwards.
