3 .1 .1 Internal pre-heater (accessories)
According to criteria for passive houses, a pre-heater is mandatory to prevent the Cross counter flow heat
exchanger from freezing!
– Regulation of electric pre-heater KWL-EVH 220 D (accessories)
The power electronics of the KWL compare the temperature setpoint (factory setting +3 °C) with the exhaust air tem-
perature (sensor T4). In case of deviation, the pre-heater is controlled based on the difference in order to achieve a
constant exhaust air temperature.
The power electronics of the KWL compare the comfort temperature (Passive house institute specification: +16.5 °C)
with the supply air temperature (sensor T2). In case of deviation, the pre-heater is controlled based on the difference in
order to achieve a constant supply air temperature. If an auxiliary heater is also connected, the duct/supply air sensor
T5 is activated instead of the supply air sensor T2 and the auxiliary heater is controlled based on the difference. The
pre-heater will only activate if there are no error messages (see section 6.8) on the controller display and the supply air
fan delivers the minimum flow rate.
General information for using an electric pre-heater (accessories)
– The following applies regardless of the configuration:
The safety temperature limiter STB-A (auto reset) and STB-M (manual reset) integrated in the electric pre-heater protect
the unit against overheating in case of a malfunction.
If the temperature in the unit exceeds > 50 °C, the power supply voltage of the heater battery will be interrupted by the
STB-A. Once the heater battery has cooled down, the automatic reset function will take place (auto reset).
If the activation temperature (> 80 °C) is exceeded, the power supply voltage of the heater battery will be interrupted by
the safety temperature limiter STB-M. The manual reset takes place by disconnecting the mains power supply or ope-
ning the doors (contact switches) for at least 1 minute. If the error occurs more frequently, the unit must be inspected
by a service technician!
3 .1 .2 Assembly of electric pre-heater (accessories) – Standard design of right-hand version
In order to assemble the electric pre-heater (accessories), connect the elec. plug connections (Fig.6).
Then push the electric pre-heater up to the stop in the unit (Fig.7) and connect the earthing screw .
