1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing a CKW Series product from Ohaus. Behind your purchase stands OHAUS, a leading
manufacturer of precision Moisture Analyzers, Balances, Scales and Indicators. An Aftermarket Department with

applications and accessories.
This manual covers installation, operation and maintenance instructions for the Ohaus CKW Base. Please read
this manual completely before installation and operation.

1.1. General Description

The Ohaus CKW Series is available as stand-alone scale bases or as complete weighing systems with the CKW-
55 Indicator. The CKW Base is engineered for static checkweighing operations that also accommodates all
types of weighing applications—from general purpose to washdown. With its easy-to-clean design to minimize
food traps, food safety certification and rigid stainless steel construction, the CKW Base is ideally suited for years
of use in harsh environments, and other wet-environment applications where sanitary requirements are high.

1.3 Safety Precautions

For safe and dependable operation of this product, please comply with the following precautions:
• Operate the base only under ambient conditions specified in these instructions
• Ensure that the load cell cable does not pose an obstruction or tripping hazard
• Do not operate the base in hazardous environments or unstable locations
• Do not drop loads on the base
• Do not lift the base by the top plate; always lift from the bottom plate when moving the base
• Service should only be performed by authorized personnel
