3.1

Setting the cross-section

Fully open the tool by pulling the bars apart from each other.
• Push the locking pin all the way into the crimp insert against the spring pressure.
• For the tool type PZ RK 6/70, rotate the crimping insert until the upper cross-section
inscription on the crimping insert matches the cross-section inscription on the cable
lug / connector.
• For the tool type PZ RK 6/70, rotate the crimping insert until the upper code number
on the crimping insert matches the code number on the cable lug / connector.
• Release the locking pin. It must engage with a clearly audible and visible click.
• If necessary, move the crimping insert slightly up and down.
• Set the second crimping insert in the same way. The upper inscriptions on both
crimping inserts must be identical and match the inscription on the cable lug / con-
nector.
ATTENTION
Setting the cross-section incorrectly will result in damage to the tool and /
or inadequate electrical or mechanical connections.
3.2

Instructions

Preparation of the cable to be worked:
1 The cable is cut at right angles to the conductor.
2 Remove the cable insulation according to the length of the cable lug / connector
sleeve (dimension a) plus 10 %.
3 Thoroughly clean the ends of the wire strands to remove any dirt and oxide resi-
dues.
4 Sector conductors must be rounded off before crimping.
