Safety Notes
The units (monitor and camera) correspond to the direc-
tive for electromagnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC.
The monitor is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient temper-
ature range 0 – 40 °C).
The camera is splashproof, however, it is not complete-
ly watertight. Therefore, do not immerse the camera in
water.
For cleaning the monitor only use a dry, soft cloth, by no
means chemicals or water. For cleaning the camera
housing, do not use strong detergents or chemicals.
If the units are used for other purposes than originally
intended, if they are not correctly installed or operated
or not repaired in an expert way, no liability for any
damage will be accepted.
If the units are to be put out of operation definitively,
take them to a local recycling plant for disposal.

Applications
This video system has been specially designed for instal-
lation in all kinds of motor vehicles. It allows an optimum
rear view, e. g. when reversing the car into a parking
space. The system consists of a TFT active matrix LCD
colour monitor, a colour camera with automatic white
balance and backlight compensation, and accessories for
connection and mounting. The set is also ideally suited as
a surveillance system (to monitor children's bedrooms and
entrance halls or to be installed into spy-holes of doors
etc.). For multimedia applications, the monitor is provided
with a small speaker and an audio-video input.

The monitor offers an optional mirror-inverted display of
the camera picture so that it seems as if your are looking
into a rear view mirror. The camera is splashproof (IP 44)
and can be installed e. g. into the bumper of a car or into
the spy-hole of a front door.
4
Mounting
4.1 Monitor
The stand (b) can be placed as desired, glued on via the
self-adhesive foil or screwed down via the 4 mounting
holes.
When mounted in a motor vehicle, the stand must be
fastened with screws at a mechanically stable location
in order to prevent it from getting loose and, together
with the monitor, turning into a dangerous projectile.
1) Fasten the mounting bracket (a) to the monitor (fig. 4).
2) Push the mounting bracket with the monitor onto the
guide pin of the stand (b) and fasten it with the knurled
nut.
3) Use the ball joint on the stand for adjusting the monitor
in an optimum way.

4.2 Camera
To determine the optimum camera position, a test run
should be made prior to mounting.
1) Drill a hole of Ø 29 mm for the camera into the material
(d) at the mounting location.
2) Use one of the pairs of bevelled rings (c) to adjust the
camera to a horizontal or inclined position. Three pairs
of rings for different angles and a distance ring are sup-
plied with the system.
3) Turn the camera in such a way that the connection
cable points downwards and the picture on the monitor
is displayed horizontally. Fasten the camera by tight-
ening the two knurled nuts (e).
4.3 Connection
Lay the connection cables in such a way that their insu-
lation cannot be damaged.
1) Connect the camera to the jack CAMERA 1 (16) of the
monitor via the supplied extension lead (20 m). A sec-

(15).
2) If the camera picture is to be recorded, connect a video
recorder to the jack AV.OUT (8).
3) For connecting another video source (DVD player,
games console etc.), use the jack AV.IN (9). The
connected cameras are then switched off.
4) There are 3 possibilities for power supply:
a via the electrical system of the car
Connect the supplied power supply cable to the jack
DC INPUT (13) of the monitor and to the electrical
system of the car:
blue:
12 V
or 24 V
via a corresponding fuse
orange:
to the line for the reversing light (for auto-
matic start)
black:
ground or negative pole of the battery
b via a car cigarette lighter socket
Connect the supplied adapter cable to the jack DC
INPUT (10) and to the car cigarette lighter socket.
c via a 12 V power supply unit connected to 230 V~
Connect the power supply unit (e. g. MONACOR
PS-1204ST, not supplied with the system) to the jack
DC INPUT (10) – centre contact = positive pole! –
and to a mains socket (230 V~/50 Hz).
5
Operation
1) Switch on the video system with the POWER switch (4)
[position ON]. The red power LED (3) lights up. In the
position OFF, the system is switched on automatically
as soon as the car is put into reverse and the orange
line of the power supply cable has been connected cor-
respondingly.
2) Select the camera jack (15 or 16) with the switch
SELECT (14). For switching automatically between the
two jacks, set the switch to position AUTO and adjust
the dwell time with the control DWELL (12).
3) Use the selector switch NOR/MIR (11) to select normal
or mirror-inverted display of the picture.
4) Adjust the volume with the control SOUND (5), the
brightness with the control BRIGHT (6), and the colour
intensity with the control COLOR (7).
