(RJ45) are available.
This product complies with the applicable National and European specifications. All

• 5 (Order No. 972156) or 8 (Order No. 972164) Twisted Pair connections (RJ45 connectors)
• Automatic Uplink for each port
• Data transmission rate 10 or 100MBIT (automatic recognition)
• Magnetic holder on the underside
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to obser-
ve these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any
consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty
will be void in such cases.
The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
The design of the AC transformer complies with safety class II. As a voltage source
for the AC transformer only a standard power socket (230V~/50Hz) connected to
the domestic mains system should be used.
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.
Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since it could become
a dangerous plaything for children.
The product is intended for use in dry indoor locations, it must not get damp or wet!
There is a risk of a lethal electric shock!
Handle the product carefully, it can be damaged by impacts, blows or by falling from
a low height.
Connection
Connect the round plug from the power transformer to the low voltage connector on the network
switch. Then connect the power transformer to the mains socket (230V~/50Hz).
The connections can be connected to appropriate RJ45 jacks on the network cards or another
network switch.
The network switch supplied has automatic uplink recognition for each port, which
allows for particularly simple wiring to other switches (a cross-link cable etc. is not
required any longer).
One LED per port is used as Link-/Act-LED. The LED shines continually for a faultless network
connection or it flashes during data transfers.
Magnetic clamp
Using the magnetic clamp, on the bottom of the network switch, it can be attached to a comput-
er casing (steel type), for example or to another suitable surface.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any
reason.
To clean the product, use a dry, clean and soft cloth; before cleaning, disconnect the product
from the power supply, unplug the AC adaptor from the mains socket.

Tips & Notes
• If you have your own network or system administrator for your network (as will probably be the
case in a larger company), please let this person assume the responsibility for connection and
wiring. Do not connect the network switch yourself!
• The twisted pair cable between the network switch and computer must not be longer than 100
m. Only use so-called CAT5 cables.
• The "LINK/ACT" LEDs, for each network port, indicate if there is a correct twisted pair cable
and connection (LED on), a missing cable or incorrect connection (LED off) or data transmis-
sion (LED blinks).
• The maximum data transfer rates of 10MBit (a little over 1MByte) or 100MBit (a little over
10MByte) per second are not achievable in real operation. During data transmission, not only
is data transmitted, but also protocol information etc, data packages must be repeated or dif-
ferent computers may want to transmit data at the same time. Furthermore, the data must be
read off the hard disk of one computer and written onto the hard disk of another computer.
Effectively, at a 10MBit data transfer rate, approx. 800kByte/s can be achieved, at 100MBit
some MByte/s are possible.
• If the network switch is not supplied with power from the plug-in power unit, all the connections
will be out of operation. A network connection is not possible.

Only use in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet. There is a
risk of a lethal electric shock!
Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a
warm one. The condensation that forms might destroy the product. Moreover, with
the AC adaptor, there is danger of electric shock involved!
Leave the product switched off and wait until it has reached room temperature
before you use it. This may take several hours.
Ensure the insulation of the entire product is neither damaged nor destroyed. The
housing must not be opened!
Any maintenance or repair work must only be carried out by authorised personnel.
Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, DO NOT connect the product to the mains supply!
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not operate any longer and
- the device has been stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time
or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
If you do not use the product for a longer period of time, disconnect the mains plug
from the mains socket (all the network connections cease to function!)
Avoid the following unfavourable environmental conditions at the installation loca-
tion and during transportation:
- Excessive humidity or damp
- Extreme cold or heat
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loud-
speakers
When installing the device, make sure the cables are not bent or jammed.
Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
