Additionally, a signal tone sounds for approx. 2 seconds,
which acoustically indicates that the battery is fully charged.
Afterwards, the battery can be removed for immediate use.
When the battery is not inserted, continuous lighting of the
LED indicator indicates that the mains plug is inserted in the
socket outlet and that the battery charger is ready for opera-
tion.
Battery Temperature below 0°C or above 45°C
Continuous lighting of the red LED indicator
indicates that the temperature of the battery is
not within the allowable charging temperature
range, see section "Technical Data". As soon as the allowable
charging temperature range is reached, the battery charger
automatically switches to rapid charging.
When the battery is not within the allowable temperature
range, the red battery LED lights up when inserting the bat-
tery into the battery charger.
No Charging Procedure Possible
If a different malfunction of the charging pro-
cedure is present, this will be indicated
through flashing of the red LED indicator.
The charging procedure cannot be started and the battery
cannot be charged (see section Troubleshooting).
Charging Advice
With continuous or several repetitive charging cycles without
interruption, the charger can warm up. This is not meaning-
ful and does not indicate a technical defect of the battery
charger.
A significantly reduced working period after charging indic-
ates that the battery is used and must be replaced.
Observe the notes for disposal.
Battery Cooling (Active Air Cooling)
The fan control integrated into the charger monitors the tem-
perature of the inserted battery. When the battery temperat-
ure is above 30 °C, a fan cools down the battery to the op-
timal charging temperature. The fan generates a ventilation
sound when switched on.
If the fan is not running, the battery temperature is within the
optimum charge-temperature range or the fan is defective.
In this case, the charging time of the battery might be exten-
ded.
Operation
Switching On and Off (see figure F)
To switch on, firstly press the lock-off button (1). Then
press the On/Off switch (2) and keep it pressed.
Troubleshooting

To switch off, release the On/Off switch (2).
Lawn trimming/Edge cutting
Press button (12). Turn the bottom part of the trimmer by
180° to position the trimmer head either for lawn trimming
or edge cutting. Release button (12) so that the turning
mechanism engages.
Lawn trimming
Move the trimmer left and right, keeping it well away from
the body. Cut higher grass in steps. (see figure G)
Edge cutting
Guide the trimmer along the edge of the lawn. Avoid contact
with solid surfaces or walls to prevent rapid wear of the cut-
ting line. (see figure H)
Cutting around trees and bushes
For better control, use the plant protector (8). Carefully cut
around trees and bushes so that they do not come into con-
tact with the cutting line. Plants can die if you damage the
bark.
Dismounting the spool, winding up the cutting
line and mounting the spool (see figures I bis L)
Remove the battery before replacing the spool.
u
Press both latches of the spool cover together and remove
the spool cover (13). Afterwards, remove the empty spool
(14).
Cut off approx. 6.0 m line from the refill roll. Fold the line in
half, so that it has a length of 2 x 3 m. Attach the line centre
to the nose on the spool and wind up the line - one end in
each spool compartment - uniformly distributed and taut.
Slide both ends of the cutting line through the holes for line
guiding (15) in the trimmer head and mount the spool back
into the trimmer head. Affix the spool by mounting the spool
cover (13).
Line Feeding (see figure M)
Semi-automatic Line Feeding
The trimmer is equipped with a semi-automatic feeding sys-
tem. The system feeds 10 mm of the line with every press of
the on/off switch (2).
Manual Line Feeding
Press the line-feed button (16), and pull the cutting line out
to the desired length.
