2. Put the residual limb with the liner on it into the socket (Figure 4).
3. Push the pin on the liner into the hole. The knob will turn until the pin is fully in the lock.
4. Fully push the handle down. This will close the socket to the residual limb.
Adjusting the Height
The height of the shells can be adjusted to fit the length of the residual limb (Figure 5).
Change the height as follows:
1. Loosen the medial telescoping screw.
Adjust the height of the medial proximal shell (Figure 5a).
NOTE: Torque to 3 N m. 0 mm on the medial telescoping strut corresponds to 200 mm residual limb length
when the strut is vertical.
2. Loosen the lateral telescoping screw.
3. Adjust the height of the lateral proximal shell (Figure 5b). We recommend that the lateral proximal shell is
a very small distance above the medial proximal shell.
4. Torque to 3 N m (Figure 5c).
Adjusting the Tension
The shells can be adjusted to fit the shape of the residual limb (Figure 6).
Laces are used to tighten or loosen a shell. Four bobbins above the handle adjust the tension of the laces
as follows:
Bobbin
Anterior proximal bobbin
Posterior proximal bobbin
Anterior distal bobbin
Posterior distal bobbin
Adjust the shell tension as follows (Figure 6):
1. Tell the user to sit down.
2. Close the handle to cause tension (Figure 6a).
3. Lightly tighten all bobbins to increase the tension of the laces (Figure 6b). To tension a bobbin push it into the
strut. This releases the bobbin from its locking teeth.
4. Use a torque screwdriver set to 1 N m and tighten the bobbins in increments.
NOTE: When you tension the bobbins, the angle of the struts will rotate in and align to the shape of the
residual limb.
Adjusting the Distal End
The distal end can be adjusted to let the strut angles align with the residual limb.
Align the distal end as follows (Figure 7):
1. Make sure the distal end is perpendicular to the axis of the residual limb.
2. Move the distal end to the medial or lateral side until it is correctly aligned (Figure 7a).
NOTE: Make sure the distal end is fully perpendicular to the midline of the residual limb. This will make it
easier to put the pin through the lock.
3. Torque the two distal end screws to 10 N m (Figure 7b).
Dynamic Alignment
1. Attach the device to the prosthetic system (the knee, pylon, and foot).
2. Do the dynamic alignment. You can adjust the device for better fit during dynamic alignment. For example:
• Loosen the two telescoping screws to tune the height of the proximal shells. You can repeat this in quick
steps.
• Tune the tension of the laces. 1 N m is an initial guideline for low active users. Use your clinical judgement to
Tension region
anterior proximal region
posterior proximal region
anterior distal region
posterior distal region
