SL-2 HYBRID SOLAR CHARGER

1. INTENDED USE
The product is suitable first of all for charging two NiMH rechargeable batteries by means of the integrated solar
cell or via the USB port of a computer. In addition, the product is suitable for charging mobile phone batteries
of major manufacturers and other small consumers such as MP3/MP4 players, GPS devices, etc. Two NiMH
rechargeable batteries serve as the voltage source in this case.
This product fulfils European and national requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
CE conformity has been verified and the relevant statements and documents have been deposited at
the manufacturer.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety and approval
reasons (CE). Any usage other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product and lead to
associated risks such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. Please read the operating instructions thoroughly
and keep them for further reference.

3. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
We do not assume liability for resulting damages to property or personal injury if the
product has been abused in any way or damaged by improper use or failure to observe
these operating instructions. The warranty/ guarantee will then expire!
The icon with exclamation mark indicates important information in the operating
instructions. Carefully read the whole operating instructions before operating the device,
otherwise there is risk of danger.
Personal safety
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children!
• Do not let packaging material, rechargeable batteries or small parts carelessly lying around. They might be
swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's Liability Insurance
Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are to be observed.
• Operating chargers and the accessories should be supervised by qualified trained personnel in schools,
training facilities, hobby and self-help workshops.
Product safety
• When used in conjunction with other devices, observe the operating instructions and safety notices of
connected devices.
• The product must not be subjected to heavy mechanical stress.
• The product must not be exposed it to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, intense vibration, or
dampness.
• If you have a reason to believe that the device can no longer be operated safely, disconnect it immediately
and secure it against unintentional operation. It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible
if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device no longer works and
- the unit was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- if it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
Battery safety
• Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the batteries.
• Batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time to avoid damage
through leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore
use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted batteries.
• Batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave the battery lying around, as there is risk, that
children or pets swallow it.
• All the batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new batteries in the device can lead
to battery leakage and device damage.
• Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire. Never recharge non-rechargeable
batteries. There is a risk of explosion!

• Repair works must only be carried out by a specialist/ specialist workshop.

4. INITIAL OPERATION
Remove the batteries from the device when you are not using it.
Do not short-circuit the USB port of the charger.
Only use NiMH batteries of the same type and the same capacity.
Inserting the batteries
1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the device by pushing its cover in the direction of the arrow.
2. Insert two NiMH type AA batteries in the battery compartment, observing correct polarity. Take note of the
labelling on the inside of the battery compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment again.

1. Set the switch to the "IN" position.
2. Adjust the solar cell so that the light hits the solar cell as perpendicularly as possible. If necessary, use the
stand on the battery compartment cover.
3. As soon as the LED next to the USB port of the charger shines red, the batteries are being charged.

Charging batteries via USB
1. Set the switch to the "IN" position.
2. Connect the USB plug of the USB cable to the USB connection of the charger.
3. Connect the USB adapter to the other end of the USB cable.
4. Connect the USB adapter to a free USB port that provides a charging current of at least 180 mA.
5. As soon as the LED next to the USB port of the charger shines red, the batteries are being charged.

Charging USB devices and mobile phone batteries
Two previously charged NiMH batteries serve as the voltage source.
1. Set the switch to the "OUT" position. The LED next to the USB port of the charger shines green.
2. Connect the USB plug of the USB cable to the USB connection of the charger.
3. Choose a suitable adapter and connect it to the other end of the USB cable.
4. Switch the device off whose battery you want to charge.
5. Connect the adapter to the charging socket of the respective device in order to charge its battery.
5. DISPOSAL
General
In order to preserve, protect and improve the quality of environment, protect human health and
utilise natural resources prudently and rationally, the user should return unserviceable product to
relevant facilities in accordance with statutory regulations.
The crossed-out wheeled bin indicates the product needs to be disposed separately and not as
municipal waste.
Batteries / rechargeable batteries
The user is legally obliged (battery regulation) to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries.
Disposing used batteries in the household waste is prohibited! Batteries/ rechargeable
batteries containing hazardous substances are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin. The
symbol indicates that the product is forbidden to be disposed via the domestic refuse. The
chemical symbols for the respective hazardous substances are Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury,
Pb = Lead.
You can return used batteries/ rechargeable batteries free of charge to any collecting point of your
local authority, our stores or where batteries/ rechargeable batteries are sold.
Consequently you comply with your legal obligations and contribute to environmental protection!
