INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE – ROPE ADJUSTER
Summary
The C.A.M.P. Rope Adjuster is an adjustable restraint and work positioning device conforming to standard EN
358:2018.
This product is intended for use to protect and prevent against risks of falling from above in industry, in construction
work, in rescue and, more generally, for any application of work at a height.
Various models and standard versions are available, shown in Tab. A. Other special combinations of connectors and
special lengths are available and the relative data are shown on the product marking.
Use
Fall Factor is a rating used to evaluate the danger of specific scenarios when working at heights (fig.1a) is calculated
using the following equation: Fall Factor = Height of Fall / Length of Lanyard. In situations where the Fall Factor
will be 0 (e.g. the worker is positioned under the anchor point on a tensioned lanyard) or in situations where the
Fall Factor is 1 or less and the freedom of movement is limited to 0,6 m or less, positioning/restraint equipment is
adequate (fig.1b). Fall arrest equipment must be used for other situations where the Fall Factor is greater than 1 or
more freedom of movement is required.
Always keep the rope under tension and avoid creating slack.
When using a work positioning system, the user relies on the equipment for his or her support. Assessing the need
for a second fall arresting safety system is essential.
The anchor point must be in compliance with the EN795 standard and/or known to have a resistance of 12 kN (metal
anchors) or 18 kN (fabric anchors). The anchoring point must be at or above waist level.
Only use connectors conforming to standard EN 362. The device must be connected through the connector hole [3]
on the adjustment device [1] and must be connected to the harness with a Type B connector. On the rope terminal
[4], Type B or T connectors must be used.
In order to avoid burns caused by the sliding of the rope, the usage of gloves is highly recommended.
Certified rescue equipment and trained rescue workers are necessary for intervention in case of a fall, in order to
minimize the risk of suspension trauma.
Double attachment mode
The Rope Adjuster must be used with a positioning belt conforming to standard EN 358 and must be attached to the
two side rings (double attachment mode). Rope in contact with the anchor must be protected with tubular webbing
[6]. Adjustment of the rope's length must be done without the user's weight loading the device:
• to shorten the rope, pull the free end [5] until the desired length is achieved - the rope will be blocked again when
the device is loaded with the user's weight (fig.2);
• to lengthen the rope, hold the adjustment device [1] in one hand and unlock the cam [2] with the thumb (fig.3),
then let the rope slide inside the adjustment device [1] - the rope will be blocked again when the device is loaded
with the user's weight.
Single attachment mode
When using a harness with leg loops conforming to standard EN 813, the Rope Adjuster can be attached directly to
the front ring of the harness (fig.4). Adjustment of the rope's length must be done in the same way as described for
the "double attachment mode" above.
