Felling trees
Observe all safety regulations while felling
trees in the following manner:
The chainsaw can only be used to chop down
trees whose diameter is shorter than the length of
the guide rail!
When felling trees, ensure that no persons or
pets are where they might be hit by a falling tree!
Never attempt to free a jammed saw with the mo-
tor running. Use a wooden wedge to free the
chain!
Check chain tension and top up oil where re-
quired.
Connect chainsaw to an electrical power source.
Note:
Determine the direction of fall in advance, taking
both the tree's centre of gravity at the crown and
the wind into account.
The chainsaw must be running before it makes
contact with the wood!
Switching on: Press lockout button 20 and
ON/OFF switch 19.
Cut a notch A B in the trunk on the side in toward
which the tree is to fall. The notch should be ap-
proximately 1/3 of the diameter of the trunk.
On the side opposite the notch, make a horizontal
cut C 4 cm above cut A.
Do not cut all the way through the trunk!
About 10 % of the diameter should remain stand-
ing. If the tree starts to fall, immediately withdraw
the chainsaw and move back and off to one side!
The work area at the treetrunk must be free from
obstructions and provide secure footing for the
operation. The area to the rear afford the operator
the opportunity of moving back quickly.
Switching off: Release ON/OFF switch 19. Re-
move plug from electrical outlet.
To complete the felling operation, drive a wedge
D into the horizontal cut.
Watch for falling branches when stepping back
after delivering the final cut.
Never use an iron wedge.

Sharpening chain
Your dealer will be able to sharpen your chainsaw
quickly and correctly. He can also provide you
with various sharpening accessories such as the
Oregon Super Rapid file, with which you can
sharpen the blade yourself. Please observe the
instructions supplied with your sharpening tool.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Before working on machine disconnect
from power supply by removing plug from
socket.
Always keep the machine and the ventilation
slots clean.
Perform only those maintenance operations
which are described in the Operating Manual for
the chainsaw. More extensive work should al-
ways be carried out by a Bosch Service Centre.
Do not attempt to modify the electric chainsaw, as
you could put yourself at risk by doing so.
If the machine should happen to fail despite the
care taken in manufacture and testing, repair
should be carried out by an authorised customer
services agent for Bosch power tools.
For all correspondence and spare parts orders,
always include the 10 digit order number of the
machine!
WARNING! Important instructions for con-
necting a new 3-pin plug to the 2 wire cable.
The wires in the cable are coloured according to
the following code:
strain relief
live = brown
neutral = blue
Do not connect the blue or brown wire to the
earth terminal of the plug.
Important: If for any reason the plug is cut off of
the cable of this machine, it must be disposed of
safely and not left unattended.
