PHOTOS 109 - 111. Use a pencil to mark out points at the indicated distance and then join them with a line. Bend and glue a
rubbing strake round the stern to join the rubbing strake son both sides of the hull.
PHOTO 112. Sand down all of the rubbing strakes and then paint them, first with a coat of primer and then with a coat of white
gloss. We recommend that you use a spray or an aerograph to do the painting in order to get an optimum finish.
PHOTO 113. Use wooden blocks to make up a support for a marker pen, in which it will be held tight at the height indicated in
the photo.
PHOTO 114. Position the hull balanced and immobilised on a stable, flat surface. Use a marker pen to mark out the water line
on the hull and then cover the hull above the line with a strip of masking tape.
PHOTOS 115 - 117. Lightly sand down the bottom of the hull so that you can paint on it and then apply dark green paint to the
bottom part of the hull. When the paint has dried remove the masking tape.
PHOTOS 118 & 119. Following the same procedure of masking out areas to be painted, paint the space between the rubbing
strakes dark brown. The top rubbing strakes must then be painted ochre and the lower rubbing strake green.
PHOTO 120. Reopen the hole in the stern part of the hull and fit the propeller (76).
PHOTOS 121 & 122. Make a hole, with a diameter of approximately 4 mm at the bottom of the stern of the hull. Sand down and
give shape to the rudder blade and then paint it white and green as shown in the photo.
PHOTOS 123 & 124. Insert the rudder blade into the hull and attach it to the stern post using a length of brass wire.
PHOTOS 125 - 129. Make 4 mm deep holes with a diameter of 2 mm in the areas of the bow and stern of the hull. These holes
must be aligned with those that already exist in the bulwarks and respecting the distances indicated in the photos. Then glue the
rivets (37) into place.
In the central part of the hull, make another 9 holes, at a distance of 10 mm below the bottom rubbing strake, respecting the
distances shown in the photo. Start by making a hole in the centre of the hull and, taken from this hole, make 5 more towards
the bow and 3 more towards the stern, then glue a rivet into each hole. Make 7 more holes in the bow area of the hull, following
on from the last one in this area. These must be aligned 10 mm below the bottom rubbing strake and distributed as shown in the
photo. Make 8 more holes in the stern area of the hull as shown, and glue a rivet into each one.
PHOTOS 130 & 131. Paint the parts (79, 80 & 81) ochre and fit them to the quarter deck, as shown.
PHOTOS 132 & 133. Adjust the breakwater (82) and paint it white, then glue it centred on the deck. Paint the edges of part (83)
and glue them onto the breakwater.
PHOTOS 134 & 135. Make up and attach the handrail (84) to the aft deckhouse and then paint the 4 windows (85) white and fit
them in place.
PHOTOS 136 & 137. Make up and attach the handrails (86) to the fore deckhouse and then paint white and attach the 2
windows (85). Make up and attach the handrails (87) to the side of the fore deckhouse.
PHOTO 138. Paint the nameplates (88) blue and attach one on each side of the hull as shown.
PHOTO 139. Paint and attach the parts (89 & 90) to the hull, making the necessary adjustments, and then make a hole on the
inside of the part (90) so that you can attach the part (91).
PHOTO 140. Adjust and glue the limber boards (92) into place and then paint them ochre.
PHOTO 141. Glue and paint the parts (93 & 95) into place at the distances indicated in the image.
PHOTO 142. Paint and glue the parts (94 & 95) into place and then make up and attach the chain guides (96).
PHOTO 143. Paint and attach the parts (97 & 98) into place and then adjust the length of the chains (99) and fix them in place.
PHOTOS 144 & 145. Make centred and evenly distributed holes along the forecastle deck stringer. Using a cutter, trim off the
sprues that attach the uprights (100) to the sheet. Apply glue to the sharp ends of the railings and, using flat-tip pliers fix them to
the stringer, as shown in the photo. Now do the same on the other side of the deck.
PHOTO 146. Paint and attach the ladders (101) on each side of the forecastle deck, also attach one upright (100) at the bottom.
PHOTOS 147 - 149. Insert the lengths of thread to make up the rails to form the guard rails. Glue them into place, trimming off
any excess, and then paint them white.
PHOTO 150. Make up and fit the handrails (103) into place on the sides of the fore deckhouse.
PHOTOS 151 & 152. Make 50 centred and evenly distributed holes in the stringers of the quarter deck, as shown in the photo,
these should be approximately 12 mm apart. Then fix the uprights (104) into place, make up the guard rails (102) using cotton
thread and paint them white.
PHOTO 153. Glue the handrails to the guard rails (105, 106 & 107).
PHOTO 154. Paint the mooring line bitts (108) white and fit them in place.
PHOTO 155. Glue together and paint white the parts (109 & 110) and then fit them in place on the deck.
PHOTO 156. Glue the parts (111 & 112) into place and then paint the structure obtained white.
PHOTOS 157 - 160. Insert and fix the parts (113) to make up the grating, then glue them together to reinforce them and cut
them into sections as shown in the photos. Count the number of holes to establish the length. Make up and glue into the frames
(114 & 115).
PHOTO 161. Insert and attach the grating to the structure.
PHOTO 162. Glue the parts (110 & 116) together and paint them white. Glue them into place on the structure, and then glue the
structure onto the ship.
PHOTO 163. Cut the parts (117 & 118) to size and fix them in place, then paint them white.
PHOTOS 164 - 167. Make up and fix the parts (119 – 124) into place. Glue the assemblies obtained onto the structure of the
ship. Apply pore-filling lacquer to the wooden parts that you are incorporating to the ship.
